But I pulled the image from a site about the Test Drive Triple Pack, so I'm not really sure it is really TD1 or 2...

Test Drive 1&2 look quite similar, And it could be test drive 1 too now that I look closer. Not that my question is very hard either.

It was Test Drive 1 on the C64, and your other game suspiciously looks like 4D Sports : Driving.

That's the reason why it looks better. Because it's easier to render sprites then it is to render 3 dimensional objects.
