I'm having a wierd video problem with the version of CivIII:Conquests available for download from trygames.com. I've tried the game on three different machines and get the same problem. All of the buttons are distorted with overlays, like when old DOS games had video problems. Also, whenever I start game, I get multiple distorted images of Hiawatha from various eras in the botton right-hand corner of the screen. The game seems to run ok, but the graphics are so distracting that I can'tr bring myself to play it.

As I mentioned, this has happened on three different machines, all running ATI graphics cards (Pro, 128 and All-in-Wonder Radeon). Any suggestions? The expansion looks pretty cool, and I'd like to try it out.

Sounds like it's a problem with the download. Try contacting trygames.com with this, and see what they say.

This is the exact same graphics problem I am having. With the picture of the guy from different eras and such. I didnt download conquests though, i got it straight from the disk. I tried reinstalling both the game and patch many times... Anyone know of a solution or a link for a refund...anything?

Yeah great , after many emails from a tech being very helpful this is the last email i got resolving the problem....

There's not much explanation for this at this point. Try copying the Lucida
font from the game folder to the Windows\Font folder.

So ....hooray, im just unlucky and happen to not be able to install the game correctly for some odd reason. Its just fate or whatever you believe in not wanting me to play conquests maybe.

Does anyone know if its possible for a copy of a game to get a bad press or copy... like when its made is it possible that a few might have been pressed to the disk incorrectly and i might have just gotten a bad one? I have heard something similar happening in the past with console games, but not sure if its possible or just a rumor.
