Voudon/Santeria arose as the response of African slaves who were forbidden to practice their religion by their Catholic masters in the Carribean; their syncretic response was to adopt Catholic saints (such as Santa Barbara) as avatars of "gods" they believed had multiple incarnations anyway. If any wrong was committed it was by the owners of the slaves. A Yankee fighting the Civil War ought to understand that.
Edit (FWIW): Darker Angels by S. P. Somtow is a well-written and disturbing novel involving zombies and voodoo during the Civil War era. Walt Whitman is a major character.

I've researched Voodoo, it's very interesting. They believe in a place called "Africa Under the Waves" or something like that, that's supposed to be heaven.

No, I just made this as an idle distraction, not out of some plan to create a line of Voodoo units. If you want some kind of Voodoo witch unit I'm sure there are already suitable ones somewhere on the forum.
