Hi there everyone!

I'm planning on live streaming Vox Populi, starting tomorrow (Wednesday). I've been a vivid civilization fan almost as long as I play computer games. I think I was 6 years young back in the day when I got introduced to Civ III (thanks dave!) and been spellbound ever since. For me, Civ V managed to peak the franchise in many regards and with the introduction and effort of Vox Populi, a piece of art was created that still continues to amaze me day after day, in many forms and languages. I'm planing to always play the latest Vox Populi version and maybe it provides some feedback too.

I'm still trying to find my games and also building a small community. Although I have big plans for the future, please don't expect too much right now. If you feel like hanging out with me I'm starting around 15:30 CET and this is where you find me: https://www.twitch.tv/JohannesWasHere

PS: I do appreciate your ideas and suggestions for playing civ and also the stream. : )

Mod list in the works!

Epic. .do you want to torture me?
Edit: Oh wait, I thought you meant marathon. Maybe I'll try it in a future game!

You'll have to link me the vyyt special, I didn't find anything.

Lastly, I'm finishing up my mod list right now and will add it here before I start. :)

Play using the @vyyt special. Emperor, Epic, Huge, crowded Tectonic map. :c5happy:
Haha! :-) Don't be mean to @JohannesFFF.

@JohannesFFF, the vyyt special specs are in my sig :-) But really, don't be like me, my games last weeks, sometimes even months. I don't think people would keep the attention for such a long game ans while I enjoy the epicness of the big battles, they may become boring and repetitive for the viewers. Just play whatever you are comfortable with.

If it is (also) meant to showcase VP, I would like to see the AI cleverness shown (without bashing the vanilla Civ5 too much). Not sure how, but I think that you can point out when AI archers move and shoot on the same turn (which vanilla AI doesn't), when the AI launches a multi-pronged offensive, when they hold ground instead of silly embarking right in front of your battleships, when they choose a proper pantheon instead of just randomizing it, etc. Also, the naval operations have been improved immensely. A simple, but IMO brilliant feature is the difficulty gradation - in the top difficulties, AI picks the one best option, in lower ones, it chooses randomly from several best/good options, which simulates intelligence nicely. And also, unlike in vanilla, where AI civs receive a huge bonus for everything at the beginning of the game and once you have caught up, you have won, in VP, the bonuses are spread out throughout the game (e. g. AI receives a little bit of everything when it founds a city, etc.). Overall, the biggest quality for me is, that there is no one and only go to strategy anymore. You can expand and go wide (if you are careful about happiness) or you can build just a few cities and turtle around your magnificient capital and still win the game. Each approach is supported by the relevant ancient policy tree.

Gonna second @vyyt's advice. Don't go for epic length games; it will kill your channel. I also wouldn't go more than Large for size.

At least for your first game or 2, you probably just want to play with vanilla game settings, but you could show off some of the new UI stuff people have made. Having more information at your fingertips might help you assess and communicate your experiences better
After that, you could look at maybe adding some unique civs or changing settings.

Missed it and no video of it up on twitch, will you play more this week?

Thank you all for the viewership and kind words, it really means a lot to me. Unfortunately it didn't turn out as I wanted to and I want to apologize one last time. Civ V is not an easy game to stream, I know that now, additionally, I was so exited for today that I did not get much sleep. I'll probably play a few offline games before coming back. Good night

Just play 10 duel maps with different terrain with fight in Ancient Era.

Don't research Military Theory on map with only jungle/forest and many rivers. Swordsman was much better in that situation. Till that just defend with spearman.

It's a pity that I didn't see the start, so don't know what pantheons was avalaible...
And thanks for stream, next I will watch from start.
P.S.: Maybe, it is a good idea to remove some mods, hard to understand why borders appear under your units.

Interesting assortment of mods, how did you decide on these if I may ask?
Through browsing steam.

Good idea and thank you. You didn't miss anything, I was getting uncomfortable having so many viewers xD then I started talking down to myself. :undecide:

That many mods could be causing instability. It’s a lot.
That is true, but they are mostly just small mods. I am testing every single one and if I find incompatibilities I'll remove the mod.

Heyo :) just wanted to say I'm not dead. I took a longer break than expected and still want to live stream Civ V on my channel again. I have finally finished my mod list and now started to test everything. So maybe until February but when I'm done I'm done.
