VP-appointment

Did I meet the 24 hour deadline for a refusal poll? :mischief:

Code:
2. Deputies
    a. Each elected office in the Executive and Legislative branch
shall have a Deputy. This Deputy is appointed by the office
       holder.
[b]1. Any citizen may post a refusal poll within 24 hours of the
         appointment. [/b]
    b. No elected official may be appointed a Deputy.
    c. A citizen may only be appointed to one Deputy position.

Let's test out our new laws to avoid a possible repeat of DG3 Term 3. Unless President Rik can assure us that he will play every save, I am against this appointment.

I can. And I am planning on playing in all Turnchats.

Unless my computer breaks down or I get terribly ill and unable to do anything. Actually both my 2 computers break down.
And I can't borrow someone else's laptop.

Ok; only if I get sick and can't even touch a computer.

But post a refusal poll if you desire. It's your right.

If I have learned anything in the DemoGame, it is not to take anything for granted. Are you sure you don't have a fourth computer back-up plan?

My request for a refusal poll stands. :) And our law states that the leader responsible for the appointment must post the poll. For proof, I will sift through our Three Books and get you that little nugget of info soon.

I think you've misread the law.

It states:

CoL Section H 2
2. Deputies
a. Each elected office in the Executive and Legislative branch shall have a Deputy. This Deputy is appointed by the office holder.
1. Any citizen may post a refusal poll within 24 hours of the appointment.
b. No elected official may be appointed a Deputy.
c. A citizen may only be appointed to one Deputy position.

Any citizen may post a refusal poll. It's not the task of the appointer, nor of the appointee. I will not post this poll unless you prove me wrong. I back my VP !

Of course I'll take my responsibility and post the poll if you prove to me I have to.

Thanks for the vote of confidence my old friend from Tlaxcala. Hey, while you're at it why don't you step in to the judicial review and take up Bill_in_PDX's call to render a decision? That will allow you to twist that knife while it's still sticking in my back.

Actually, it does need to come from you Rik. From the CoS - Forum Poll section (just ratified, BTW!)
Code:
  3. Refusal Polls
    i. Any citizen may request a refusal poll to be posted within 24 hours
of any citizen being appointed to an elected office.
ii. The person who appointed the citizen to the office must create a
poll within 24 hours of the refusal request.
      a. Failure to post the poll shall result in the appoinment nullified
      b. Poll shall only contain Yes, No and Abstain options.
      c. Poll shall run for 48 hours.
      d. Header and body of poll should state that this is a refusal poll
          and the position in question.
      e. Should there fail to be a majority of votes in support of the
appointment, the appointment is immediately nullified upon the
          poll closing.
iii. If the appointment is nullified, the person making the appointment
must appoint a different citizent to the office.

What you quoted is older verbage that I missed - it's on my cleanup list!

Well, I was going to post "congrats donsig!", but I need you to understand i am not saying your judicial review request is a bad one. I am saying it is not possible to get an acceptable answer, so why don't we just get a mod ruling (since it was the start of the game) and move on, one way or the other.

donsig,

Look at it this way - right or wrong, this was going to be a controversial appointment.

I will state now that I absolutely support donsig for this position. For all of the drama of that term, T3 was extremely productive for our nation. In addition, I saw the quality of instructions dramatically increase after everything. Leaders began to put thought and effort into their duties. They thought ahead several turn chats, and considered options that they simply ignored before. The focus of the game went away from the turn chat, and back to the forums.

Further, I would challenge anyone to find a more qualified candidate to lead discussions on the issues we must discuss. donsig has already opened several critical threads for this turn chat. To date, I have seen NO ACTION by the Senate on the one duty they currently have before them - the slider. With donsig as VP, and thus President of the Senate, I see him leading the Senate from the dark, stale traditions of the past, to the vibrant, active body I have envisioned.

Finally, I wish to remind everyone that in spite of all the drama, no laws were broken. Traditions, unwritten traditions - oh yes, but no laws. And I, for one, am still glad for that, as it called into open debate things that needed to be there.

donsig, my good friend, I hope you do not take this personally, and realize this is more of a role play than a personal vendetta against you. It is also a way to stir up our rivalry in the Cage Match. :)

Of course I still have legitimate concerns about the way you interpret our laws, and to that end I would like to see this refusal poll through. It adds even more excitement to the game, not that we need more. But no hard feelings, ok?

I will post my decision in the Judicial Review within 4 hours.

After further consideration, I will drop my request for a Refusal Poll. While it is true that donsig and I are almost completely polarized when it comes to interpreting our laws, there is no question that our new Vice President will provide a shining example for newcomers in regards to proper procedure. My efforts to take this gift away from Fanatica was a bad move. :(

I hope that our new Vice President can find it in his heart to forgive an old friend for exploiting his good fortune to enhance the mechanics of the game. I too have made some bold moves in my tenure here, and I don't consider this action to be one of my best. :(

But wait....it seems I have interrupted the celebration. Can we get this party started again?

Congratulations, Vice-President donsig!
