Just an update,
I have a Dell Inspiron w/15 inch UXGA, P4 3.06GHz, 1GB RAM. The video card is ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, with 64MB RAM. I downloaded the patch this weekend, and the game started up. Graphics are all set to medium. I played a standard map for 4 hours.
After 3 hours of play I started getting strange triangles, shooting up from the map. The point would start somewhere on the 'ground' and extend out into 'space'. They were stationary and fixed on the map. I rebooted and restarted the game, but they didn't go away.
I also noticed a 'error loading file' during the game in the messages at the top left of the screen (where you would normally see game event message).
Shortly after this the crashes began. So I started a new game - of Civ III!
So I am again waiting for the patch. I really don't mind waiting, and I'm not returning the game. I just wanted to post to let people and developers know that there are still problems. Thanks,
