Felt like knocking these out over the weekend. Started on Prince as French High Command - way too easy. I'll be attempting the German achievements on EMP and see how it goes.
With the Army You Have - this may be interesting on Diety. Anyway here are some tips for that achievement based on my run on Prince. I believe they will be valid at higher levels:
-Take Metz and prevent LUX from falling. Advance your troops in front of Metz/Nancy as this allows a nice buffer. Once the Germans have a stock of planes or if they start balloon-shelling you, simply back up.
-Make sure you utilize the MEs early and build rail along the front - including in and around Metz. The front rail is really the only purpose of MEs while attempting this achievement.
-Research Logistics and Flight first. You need them not for unit production (obviously) but for the Aerodrome building and Armies. You will need long-lead items to fix production on - this will prevent you from being forced into building a unit. The higher-production cities will all be working on cannon armies for much of the game, but beware that you must monitor the cities and possibly move production to another unit before actually producing the army. This was necessary in Nancy for me. I suspect this is less of an issue on higher difficulty.
-You must switch production focus OFF in all cities from the start (see above for reason).
-I sent a small squad up to Belgium to keep it interesting. Otherwise, most of my troops stayed near Nancy/Metz. On Prince, they were never threatened and Verdun was well behind my lines.
-Make sure to NOT research the advancement that gives you two generals.
Enjoy!
