Dear All:

Good afternoon from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.

Could one of you kind people tell me how to add to my warehouse space without having to found another town? I have a sneaky suspicion that I'll soon have the Indians wishing they were on the reservation!!! :D

Any ideas, brainstorms and vague notions will be entertained here.

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

Sorry, I didn't get your point.

You can build Warehouse extensions (2 times - to 200 and 300 units). The second extension requires a Lumber Mill in that town.
Or you can build yourself a few Wagons (Carrying 200 units each) and use these for temporary - and even mobile, if needed, storage space.

You can go to the XML files, and look under BUILDINGINFOS. I'm at work right now, don't have the code in front of me...

Anyway, in BuildingInfos, you look for Warehouse--it's one of the first buildings listed (they're not arranged alphabetically)--and scroll down till you find the line which denotes how much storage space it has. It'll be listed as 100, I guess. Change it to 1000, or 5000, or whatever you like.

Wagon trains are listed under UnitInfos, and you can easily change them to have 6 cargo holds. I love having wagon tains with 6 cargo holds, couldn't go back to having only 2. It just slows you down.

Tweaking stuff like that helps make the game pace more exciting. I think I'd already be bored and have quit the game by now, if I were stuck with only the Default settings. My privateers have 6 cargo holds also, and can carry passengers. Little stuff like that sure prevents a lot of repetitious micro-managing...
