Warhammer fantasy units/graphics preview/development thread

Mrtn, the Centigors are suposed to be ungainly and akward.

Cool! BY gum aaglo you've done it again... :D

Looks cool, but do Orks Have Cannons?

I'd love to see a doom-diver, classic warhammer artillery! Kamakazi gobbo's with wings and a big pointy metal hat, fired out of a catapult.

Well, I can imagine a hobgobbo cannon, it'd be both an early artillery unit for the chaos dwarves and a late artillery unit for the orks. :)

You can imagine a bunch of sneaky gitz out the back of a chaos dwarf forge banging together bitz of left over cannon parts as part payment for thier mercenary deeds.

I think the regluar ork tribes are a bit too feral for gunpowder tech, although perhaps you could have a dwarf or human slave gunner being whipped in to action by a savage or overseer.

@Smoking Mirror
Goblins were a relatively civilized group of Greenskins until Chaos demons, in pursuit of Hashut, shattered their society causing most goblins to end up either underground or as Orc slaves. So think of it as a cannon cobbled together by some goblin slaves trying to prove their usefulness to Orc masters.

@aaglo
I think it looks great, aaglo. I'm confused about the barrel's coloring though - is that supposed to be rust covering it from one end to the other? If it is, why isn't there rust on any other parts? Having never seen the model you're patterning this after, I don't know whether the coloring is normal or not, so my confusion could simply be due to ignorance of WH40K.

@Gomurr
The barrel colour is a very dark brass/bronze, hence the dark brown colouring. I think I made it overly dark (cos' it propably shouldn't be that dark). A couple of pages ago Goldflash requested some orky stuff (rock lobber, that kannon, some ork boar riders, boar chariot and snotling pump wagon). He also posted some links to those pics.

@mrtn
metallic? propably he's perspirating due to hard work on pushing that gun from flank to flank :p I'll see what I can do about that.

Excellent! I'll be very happy with an aaglo art piece for the moddy for a while. Then.. I'll ask for more. But this will saite me for atleast two, maybe three whole hours!

:lol: - okay, your three hours are up and gone and forgotten now :p

I had an orky idea for that kannon:
What if I replaced the other wheel with a completely different kind of wheel? Like a bigger chart wheel or something - now that would look like made from scraps, and would add the orkyness-factor considerably :)

I think that idea sounds good. Though as it's a 40k unit, I'll defer to Goldflash's opinion on this.

This is what I had in mind about those different wheels.
Silly? - Certainly.
Orky? - Of course.
Looking all right? - _______________ .

[edit]: I also made the cannon a bit narrower, because the previous version was just too wide (for my taste).

I think the mismatched wheels definately look good. The more cobbled together, the better. :)

Aaglo - Your unit creation is unbelievable - please tell me you are creating the units for Civ4!?

Btw, do you happen to have a list of units you intend to make?

@sourboy
... look at the signature at the bottom of aaglo's post... :)

Yeah I noticed it shortly after... :rolleyes: :blush:

Hi,
Here is a preview of a dwarf ranger - armed with a small 1-hand crossbow and a small 1-hand axe (attack 1 = crossbow, attack 2 ect. = axe).

Suggestions are welcome :)
