uranium is 2 squares up from city square is mined & roaded & RR
yet in not regestering in the city screen
any ideas

This caught me off guard the first time it happened to me too...its not well documented in the manual, but physics reveals uranium while fission lets you use it.

wow that's new ,thanks

I've only played a couple of games with Warlords, but discovered that you CANNOT build Destroyers, etc. with just Uranium discovered?
Once you hook up OIL, you're good to go!

Pretty sure that with uranium+fission and no oil you could build those destroyers.

I will totally stand to be corrected, but I believe it's Combustion and then either Oil or Uranium.
The Uranium and Fission does allow the Bomb, but I think Combustion releases the Destroyers/Transport, etc... (given you have Uranium via Physics).
Just caught me off guard when doing a Warlords game after Civ4 1.61

You need combustion + oil OR uranium to build destroyers. The civilopedia states that uranium is revealed by physiscs and enabled by fission, hence my previous post.

Again, not meaning to be argumentative, but please point out where that is stated?

I read the Civ4 1.61 and the Warlords Pedia as being the same thing?
Destroyers, for example, unlocked by Combustion and either Oil or Uranium?
I'm pretty sure that in the regular game, once you have Combustion, you're good to go with either resource hooked up (and not traded of course)?

Fission seems to unlock Nukes and also the SS Engine (with Uranium of course).

It takes so long to develop a game to that level, but I'll try one in both and see if I can post a before and after save???
Again, I stand to be corrected in either game version...

You're reading that correctly. You do need combustion and one of oil or uranium to build destroyers. But in order to access the unit building properties of uranium (in Warlords) you need fission.

It's like the archery technology stating (and it does) that you need it to build crossbows. You also need machinery and iron.

So, just different in each game. Makes sense when you think about it.
I guess the tactic would be to bee-line to Fission after Combustion if you have no Oil and need some better Naval units?
Big gap if you have enemies with the black gold?!?

Just shocked in the first couple of games.

Try reading the civilopedia entry for uranium, not destroyers, that should make it crystal clear. I don't have access to civ now(at work;) ) but I know the warlords entry is clear. If you check the 1.61 civilopedia, I think you will find it to be the same as the Warlords entry. AFAIK, they did not change anything about uranium in Warlords.

It is different.
Just checked 1.61 and the pedia says Uranium is revealed by Physics and enabled by Mining.
Warlords pedia, as you stated, revealed by Physics but enabled by Fission.

So...that would mean you would need Oil for the Naval units in Warlords, otherwise you would have to bee-line to Fission to activate any Uranium you might have, if you were without Oil.
While in 1.61 you have the units after Combustion with either Oil or U.

Different enabling of Uranium in each game, but the unit description is the same for Detroyers (for example) in both - Combustion and Oil or Uranium.

Just going to start a couple of games with very EASY settings to confirm both.
Good to know!
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the good summary
Alright so now that its cleared up...
I find that uranium works much realistically in Warlords and am happy with the change.

Damn, ok... I thought there was a bug too. That's the third game in a row where I have uranium and no oil, and Ragnar is watching me funny from his continent 10 tiles away. I'm obscenely rich but I don't have any of the endgame strategic resources except one mine of uranium that I can't use yet.

Fission, here I come ! :nuke:
