Alright, so I brought this up in another thread and I thought it would be great to arrange something of this sort... So basically, what I would like to do is arrange a game online for people who are in the warlord-noble difficulty range. In other words, you can beat warlord difficulty, but when you try to do noble, you can't seem to win.

Now, there are quite a few things we have to get down for us to be able to do this. The major thing is scheduling. We need to find a time that works for everybody, and, preferably, try to meet every week and play a bunch of rounds. Alternatively we could get a PitBoss game running, in which case worrying about schedule won't be a big deal... but I think PitBoss would be slower than what I would personally prefer (I'd rather sit down and play through several rounds rather than like one or two a day). So, if interested, reply with the times you will be available and what time zone you live in.

Second, we need to decide how the game itself is going to be run. Will there be AI players? What game speed should we go on? What other settings should we have? If people have preferences, state them, because I'm all ears (or eyes, on a forum).

Please, please only join this game if you are truly in the warlord-noble difficulty range. If you're much above that then other people won't have any fun because we'll all get creamed, and on the flip side, if you're much below that, you may not have much fun.

Well when you get to the level of dedication needed to organize and keep track something like this most people will probably be a bit high on the difficulty chart. Not much of an audience I'm afraid...

I suppose that that is true. Hm. Well most of my friends are right around my level, luckily, so I can always get online games going with them, when I can. But sometimes it's nice to meet other Civilization IV people, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I would like to play multiplayer with you and some other people.
But I´m rather (is it the right word?) noble-prince level.

Play mostly noble, test prince sometimes. On noble I often got a huge techlead but sucks on get a use of it untill corporation. I love to spread my companies and get 100+ gold each turn and have 100% on research. But I often neglect my army to much...

*Shrug.* Well due to lack of other people, I'll have to say that that is fine. So sure, it would be great to have you play! Hopefully we can get some other people...

Alsark, I read the other thread you mentioned this idea in. I'm also at noble and sometimes prince level but have had a rough go lately. Having a losing streak at prince.

If getting a larger group of MP players together is difficult, have you considered playing a somewhat cooperative noble game with 2 or 3 human players? Have the players work together against the AI. Not official teams but rather an agreement to single out AI civs for punishment. :) I'm certainly willing to participate if the scheduling works out. I enjoy in game chatting and working with other humans to destroy the evil AI has been enjoyable for me the few times I've participated in such games. Of course if you want a normal anything goes MP game, I'm willing to join in that too. Hopefully we'd all learn some new skills.

Oh, BTW. I don't know if you've done much MP play but 3.17 created an annoying out of sync issue. My experience is that it happens 1-3 times per session. It requires the host to save, exit and restart the game.

I have som friends that maybe wants to play multiplayer with some other people. They are at a level below me (e.g. warlord-noble).

We live in Sweden so our time is +1hour.

I have only played on normal speed and i hate diplomatic victory, but like the other abilities of AP and UN.

Thanks Supr49er! :)

I can´t play the 27th. I´m on "Swedens role- and conflictgame society" yearly meating that weekend.

Alsark, why not let us know what days and times are good for you? Lay down a basic foundation or this game may never get kicked off. ;) I also responded to your problem barbarian post, I didn't know if you'd seen it. Just an FYI.

It's not so simple. I'm markedly better than my friend (2+ difficulties higher), but I came THIS close to losing to him since he spawned next to me and had copper in his BFC. That was an epic game and if he were just a teeny bit more experienced I'd have lost to him there (he choked under pressure, attacked the badly pillaged city's archers with his axes just a little too early, lost them, I had iron ----> choked him backed and killed him with cats in a game we still remember every last detail of 4 months later).

If you ganged up on me or anyone else, we'd be toast...there's no way to keep up with 3 people's production if they don't suicide their units the way the AI does.

Now, would that happen? Depends on the map and how opportunistic people get...nothing like backstabbing and UTTERLY SCREWING an "ally" when you're supposed to be piling on someone else ;).

Most times would probably work for me, which is why I'd rather get the times that work best for other people who may have more restrictive time slots. It'll be easier to plan around the more restrictive person than the least restricted person. And plus, I am scheduling for classes for next semester December 5th, so I won't know for sure what times I will be open until then. So for now, I'd like to see when other people are the most available.

Haha... and... yeah, TheMeInTeam, I'll let you know if we're low on people and would like for you to join us. But yeah... you are... definitely much, much higher skill-leveled than us. So, I apologize, but I'll probably only ask you to join if we're REALLY low on people (I'd be okay with like three people or more, but if we can only get one other person on a time that works for us, then I may ask you to join).

I can also play, although like TheMeInTeam I'm way out of this difficulty range. It wouldn't be a problem for a teams game though, since we'd be fighting the AI's and not each other. ;)

I can normaly play all weekends, so it was just bad luck this time.

Äh, throw in some experienced players, then we have to learn quicker;)

And they can always tell some tip for us when they see how n00bish we are.

Ha ha, I'll join the like to play but way too experienced club. Don't worry, I'm in a different online game (that big democratic pitboss one...) so I don't mind being left out. :p
