warlords map converter

how do i convert a map from standard civ4 to warlords? ive been watching this forum for a few days now and i haven't seen anything that works yet. ive heard others "say" they made such and such a map playable in warlords but if u fallow the directions that some give in this forum it doesn't work. please anything new would be helpfull or if ive missed the post somewhere please link it here.

All you have to do is change the map's extension from .Civ4WorldBuilderSave to .CivWarlordsWBSave.

The things that people have been having problems with is when they either don't update or update incorrectly the xml and python. If what you want is merely a map, however, you don't need to worry about that at all.

and how would i do that? dumb question to some, not so to others.

OK, I am something of a newbie and I don't know how to change the map's (file's) extention. How exactly does one do that? I have asked a few friends - and colleagues: I work for MS ( as a temp!) and no one seems to know.

You just save it as file type: .Civ4WarlordsWBsave, it's saved under Map.Civ4WBSave, so it'll now be Map.Civ4WarlordsWBSave

The way I do it is to go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View within explorer. I then uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'. Then you can change the extension in exactly the same manner that you would change the files name.

You need to uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types' under Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options. This should then allow to change 'WorldBuilderSaveFile' to 'CIVWARLORDSWBSAVE'
