Warlords Problem

I have been playing Civ 4 for a while now (two or three years), but I am a noob when it comes to expansions and mods. I finally decided to get Warlords. I know where to find it, but where do I save it, what do I save it as, and how do I install it?

Did you get it on disk or from an online service?

If on disk, just startup the disk and run the install program. It will take care of putting itself where it needs to go. (Which is inside the CIV folder) Check the version number. If it isn't 2.13 (the last one), then you will want to download the 2.13 patch from the Forum's download page. If you need to do that, the download will have an installer as well.

If you used an online service, the service should furnish install instructions. They all do it differently and are non-standard compared to the disk source.

Thanks! I got the 2.08. I think I have it saved in the right spot, but it says I need an older version to install it or something like that.

Are you sure that you have the game expansion and not the 2.08 update patch? The patches make changes in the installed game, they are not complete games in themselves. The actual game expansion does not need an older version already there. The two expansions, Warlords and Beyond the Sword, are actual games that make use of some of the code in the original game, so that needs to already be there, but they don't need older versions of the expansions.
