Warlords - Stuck at Load screen

Hi

I am having some trouble with my warlords. I get stuck at the load screen which shows loading in six different languages. I have previously been able to play warlords, though have not played for over 2 months due to work andlife ect.

I have installed the 2.08 patch correctly (I Think) as i thought this may fix my problem, I installed the patch after a clean install of Warlords. My Civ IV Vanilla still works so i kept my original civ IV install.

I know my Copy of warlords is genuine and the disk is in great condition - I am unsure what is causing my inability to load. I have just installed the mod "Amra's modpack V2" I am unsure weather this is related to my problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks In advance!

Generally, if something isn't running, installing an additional potential source of bugs (a mod) does not really help . Anyway, sounds like just another copy protection related problem. There was a 2.08 patch released which did not require CD in drive. Perhaps you should search if you can find that somewhere...

PS: Hmm, it seems that today I am in a mood to blame all on the copy protection. There might be a different problem, of course...

I will now remove amra's modpack and see if warlords will work!
Warlords was working before the installation of the modpack and the new patch, which I installed at the same time as each other.

If it won't work, uninstall Warlords, manually erase all leftover folders, reinstall, repatch.

I have re installed vanilla and warlords after deleting all remaining folders manually. However I am left with the same problem - Warlords is stuck at the load screen! Vanilla still works normally as it always has!

I am unsure what to try next as i removed every trace of Civ IV / Warlords i could find on my hard drive before I re installed. I also patched with 2.08 sucessfully as far as i can tell!

Here's how to enable logging: http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/support_logging.htm. This is for Civ4. For Warlords, there's another ini file in the Warlords folder. So modify that.

Then, start Warlords. Then, find the logs. Then, attach the init.log to your next post.

I appreciate the link you provided - I have been able to locate vanilla .ini file

However I cannot locatea .ini file in my warlords folder so have been unable to allow logging - though i know how to enable logging if only I can find the.ini file.

I looked for the warlords .ini folder here

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords

my warlords folder contained many .dll fileds an htm file , to .exe and six folders.

I have not sucessfullr run warlords on this installation, is it possible the .ini has not been generated or installed yet?

Hi

Enabling Logging In Civ IV appeared to fix the loading problem. This was strange as that should have identified the problem - not fixed it! Though im not complaining!

I got the same problem. I haven't played warlords for 6 months, and after downloading the new patch i'm stuck at the loading screen too.

Here is my log:

I managed the fix the problem. I first reinstalled Warlords, and then dowloaded patch 2.08 via the firaxis site (not via the ingame updater). After installing the new patch, i finaly got past the loading screen .

Have you tried to put the warlords cd in an other cd/dvd drive? After a few times of starting warlords on my computer the game got stuck again at the loading screen, but when i put the warlords cd in my dvd drive (i got a dvd drive and a cd burner drive, and i had the cd in my cd burner), the game got past the loading screen again.

we do have a laptop so there is only one drive available.
also updated the firmware of that drive already.
nothing seems to work
