Waypoints

There are some repetitive tasks that just get really annoying to have to continually do. Building units is one of them, my empire in my current game has 15 cities, 12 of which are churning out units which I send to my fronts.

Is there a way to set city build waypoints, so units automatically just move there once they're built?

If not, is there an easier way to do this than click the unit, scroll to the destination area, and right click to send it there?

Thanks Gal and Ozzy, I had never even realized I needed such a feature, but it will come in handy now that I know about it.

What the OP wanted was a rally point, not a waypoint. Waypoints would be useful, though, that would allow you to map a route for a unit rather than to depend on the seemingly random routing algorithm that the game appears to use. Perhaps cIV has waypoints, but I haven't run across them.

To place waypoints, hold down shift with a unit selected and right-click each spot you want it to go (and you can click orders you want it to perform when it reaches each spot).

To set rally points, hold down shift and left click each city bar you want to set a rally point for. Then, while holding down shift, right-click the spot you want as a rally point for those cities, and units will automatically go there after being built. To remove a rally point for a city, "set" the rally point as the city itself and it'll disappear.

I've encountered a bug where selecting cities conflicts with the right-click menu; you can work around this by enabling the right click menu temporarily in the game options to select multiple cities. :)
