A cavalry unit, now known as Rik Meleet's Cavalry Brigade, has produced a great leader the battle at Sevastopol. So, what should we do with this leader? Should we make an army of cavs, hurry Smiths or some other wonder, plop him in DR and admire him for ages, or what? Discuss! :)

Too bad this isn't C3C.... I'd say a cav army... We have more elites waiting!

I think that a cav army would make the most sense, as it would give us a victorious army and a "superunit" of a sort.

EDIT: Yay! Post 6000 in the citizen's forum! ;)

What's the wonder building situation? Are we in a race to build any? If there's no wondaer race then I'd say go for the army. (We already have a forbidden palace.)

We're 12 turns away from Smith's Trade. Thebes (Egypt) started it a few turns before us (about 3 turns), but aren't as close to production, and are probably lagging behind. I think we'll get the wonder. I say, rush a Cav army. We can then build the War Academy in Groton (or DR).

Do we even need a poll for this? ;)

Fighting against the Russian aggressors has gifted us our 1st Great Leader Napoleon and we have the difficult task to decide what to do with him.

Many players advocate to use the 1st Leader to create an army. Once the army wins (which would not be the issue with a cavalry army), we could build the Heroic Epic and thus increase the future chance to spawn a Great Leader from 1/16 to 1/12. And we could build the Military Academy in a city which would enable this city to manually build armies.

Or we could hurry a Great Wonder. Currently we are building Smith's (due in about 15 turns); also available to us is Newton's. And we can trade for navigation and build Magellan's.

Smith's saves money, because upkeep for harbors, markets, banks, and airports is payed by it.

Newtons doubles the raw science (before library, university) of a city.

Magellan's increases ship movement by 1.

My personal choice would be to switch Vandelay (currently building Smith's) to Copernicus' (finished in 4 turns). And to use Napoleon to build Smith's in a town where we waste little accumulated shields, e.g. in Cijam which finishes cannon next turn and can then do Smith's. This would secure us two Great Wonders.

Maybe we even get another Leader to build Magellan's; otherwise Persia will get it, since Tyre is the only coastal town working on Smith's.

That sounds like a good plan tao - but it does seem a shame not to use Napoleon to form an armee. Tough choice. Yes, Cheiftess, I think a poll is needed. In the mean time, is anyone else building Copernicus? Can we take a look at Thebes to see how far along Smith's is?

That was a rethorical question. ;)

If not, the better question would be w.r.t. Tyre since Persia is Golden Age. Spying at Tyre would cost 156g (Thebes 132g).

Since our Golden Age started earlier, we currently have the lead. But if we build Smith's (600 shields) the cascade to Copernicus (400 shields) will finish really soon. I don't see any chance to start a new build e.g. in Groton. Too late.

Frankly, we're rolling over our enemies with Cav's. Let's use this leader for a wonder (per tao's suggestion), and earmark the second for an army. Let's try to bust the wonder cascade wide open before the Industrial Age.

I'm going to have to agree with tao. Let the leader be a wonder. We can snap this cascade with our leader. Where is Cops. located again? (I forget and I'm too lazy to load the save). Can we put Newtons there? (and work to get SETI in there as well, seeing as everyone loves having all 3 in one city)? Also, perhaps Smiths could go in a city other than DR and the rest, to ensure that the cavs keep pumping in the Bab war.
