Weapon promotion guide?

A list of which units can get which weapon promotions (bronze, iron, mithril) would be greatly appreciated. I was a bit surprised in my last game, that e.g. knights and eidolons don't get weapon promotions, but e.g. Chaos Marauders do. Is it simply limited to melee units? If so, I think this just serve to further devaluate the other unit types, since melee already have way the best promotions. Only they can get the second and third lvls of city raider, shock, etc. which are vastly superior to the corresponding first lvl promotions. I think that disallowing the mobility promotion for melee units (at least for movement 1 units) would be one good step to make e.g. mounted units more worthwhile. In addition, a one promotion, 100% boost to movement is simply too much imo.

Siege units also get city raiders 1-2-3.
Archery units get shock 2. Archery units get city garrison 3 which is as strong as city raider 3.
Units that don't get the weapon promotions start with higher strength than units that do.
Disciple Units and Recon Units have other skills that melee units can't get...

On this I must concur. Mobility I could increase movement of 50% maybe (if possible).
 
The initial point is a good one. It would be nice to have a pedia entry on weapon promotions, what buildings apply them, and what units benefit from them.
 
I've always been of the opinion that a warrior should a) have to take a "blank" promotion to open up Mobility I (since it's that powerful), or b) have to have, say, combat IV or something.

endurance, + 5 health
mobility 2, +1 movement
 
It would be nice if there were some unique pormotions that toher unit types could get to make them better. With the new damage types created in Fire, it wouldn't be difficult to add promotions that take advantage of this mechanic.

Arcane and deciple units could get promotions that give them a bonus to fire or unholy damage if they have combat promotions and the relevant magic promotion (say combat 2 and fire 2 for example).

Deciple units could get bonuses to holy (or unholy depending on the religion) damage that open up as they get higher level combat bonuses.

Just a few ideas to make other units more attractive (rather than nerfing the melee units).
 
It would be cool if there were promotions sort of like Heroic Strength that some unit classes could get... would be awesome if Acolytes and Savants could get +1 holy/unholy strength promotions after Combat V. Make my Lightbringer a bit tougher before I make him into a Crusader. :D
 
Yeah give us rogues vanish and blade fury and also sprint to boot, but make sure they work ROFL
