Civilisation has different terrain, such as flood plains, hills, etc. There is already a disaster in the form of tropical disease. I would like to see this expanded to make greater use of the terrain types.
So, why not weather patterns with the potential to cause random drout, flooding, or other effects. How about some fault lines for volcanoes, and earthquakes.
Not like SimCity, which I don't like, because theirs are random and without warning. I'm thinking more along the lines of having geography & geophysics affect the game.
There could be improvements that allow you to reduce the effects of incoming natural disasters, creating an enemy of mother nature. Too complex?
