If you would like to help, please let me know.

Goal: Not so much post information as organize information - the starting place for newbies, but also a reference for veterans.

More to come.

I'll help in what everway I can. I am new to Demo Games - so that might in itself be usefull. :)

Hmmmm, I'm sortof a newb so i might have missed something, but i think the the 'news' from the reporters should be on the site... would make it more immersive if you ask me (of course i know there are none yet).

Thanks guys. I'll update it soon (a day or so) regarding the new constitutional progress.

Is there anything you guys (ask relative new persons to the demogame) feel could be added to explain it better? Something that you are confused about? The more you tell, the more I can make it better - thanks!

Hmmm... the available posts... and especially, which one you can play without actually owning a copy of the game (or being able to run it). Anyways, browsing every civ4 demogame thread and interaction with vets got me to know this game a bit more...:king:

I updated it with the constitutional discussions starting.

Also, I have been playing around with the themes: do you like this new one better or worse than the old one? I am trying to find the best one.

edit: I've changed the permanent link structure too. It's now:

http://demogame.civfanatics.net/YEAR/MONTH/DAY/POSTNAME/

rather than:

http://demogame.civfanatics.net/POSTID/

A bit cleaner, more informative...

I have also added an RSS feed for the site to the links sidebar at the website and in the first post. If you use Firefox, you can go to the website and in the bottom right hand corner, click the satillite dish icon - then click "Subscribe ... " to the RSS feed - save it to your bookmarks (or bookmarks toolbar folder). Then you can quickly check to see if a new post has been made or not!

I'd like to participate, too.

I may be of help with the blog software if needed, I run a Wordpress blog myself, with self-customized skin and plugins.

Hi Blkbird,

Good to have someone with some WP knowledge. If you have any good ideas for a skin that would work (a reddish color would be nice, preferably a wide, 2 column layout), that would be nice, as well as any plugins that are handy.

As it happens, the skin I use for my own blog (which I'd prefer not to link to here, as I keep it anounymous) is based on Angel, a reddish 2-column skin - what a coincidance! The original blog that created the skin is gone now, but you can see it in action here, among other places:

http://niklasblog.com/?ts_theme=angel

For my blog, I tweaked it quite a bit, like changing the main picture, replacing the post seperator image, adding a background pattern, darken the color, and a lot of fine tuning (both visually and code-wise - the original code is a mess).

As for plugins, I use the following:

- Hallo Dolly: The ultimate default plugin
- SmartyPants: Translates plain ASCII punctuation characters into fine typographic punctuation HTML entities (replace the default WP Texturize plugin, for this one is a better alternative)
- MarkDown: Allows you to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text format
- TimeZone: Switch daylight saving time automatic
- jVisitors (original site gone): Keep a session-based visitor log (Time, IP, Country, Browser Type)
- Bad Behaviour: Stop comment spam bots from accessing your blog by identifying their HTTP request patterns

The jVisitor version I use is heavily customized - to fix some bugs of the original version and to have an improved log output (in my case non-public). Bad Behaviour is new to my blog, I don't know how it performs yet. But I can definitely tell you that spam protection will be absulotely necessary.

We used to have angel, (it's still there, I've just switched themes), but I didn't like it because of the font and layout. Maybe I can tweak it, I don't know, I'll check it out.

For now I switched it back to Angel - tell me if this looks better.

The main picture (the flag) is too intrusive because it's oversized. The font can be changed easily. What you don't like about the layout you have to specify.

I switched back - it's just something about Angel, I'm not sure what. I was searching around for other themes but couldn't really find some good quality ones that would work. I'd prefer to stay with the simplistic yet clean WP layout.

Anyway, back to the actual content ...

Btw, why aren't there any comments on the blog right now? Is commenting registered-user-only? If yes, is it wise?

Not sure how I can help. I can play with a few RSS Feed wigets that are out there (Both for DesktopX and Konfabulator) and give out instructions on how to run them for eather users of Konfabulator or DesktopX.

I'm willing to be a commentator or advisor when it comes to game news if you'd like. I'm willing to commit myself to the task and I know I'll hopefully be quite involved with the game.
