website questions..

Hi.

I've just recently fell for Civ3 again, because of the articles and forums avsilable and the development of the game.

I want to ask.. how active is this site?
I see a few regulars, but noone else..
I LOVE the HoF, and the articles 2.
So,

1. How active is this site?
2. What's the difference between this and other sites (apolyton, etc..)? Do any of them have the HoF??

And, if already talking..
How the hell am I supposed not to reload a save, when obviously a game can last for months..?? This puzzles me a lot.

I stick to this site now 'cause all in all u're friendly (like myself),
and the site is international and for all civs (1,2,3), so I can learn a lot from it.
... although I have definitely finished with civ1, and don't c myself go back to 2.. I play Civ3 PTW, not C3C..

Please answer!!!

......this site is the BEST I've found for serious PLAYERS.

Haven't seen an HOF equivalent anywhere else either.

"Reloading" is something of a misnoma. It means re-loading a game to REPLAY an action already taken, so as to get a different result........This is considered CHEATING on this site!

Saving a game and going to bed or turning the computer off or executing other progams and THEN coming back to Civ is perfectly fine.

Also you may REPLAY (Reload) on at least 2 occasions:
1. If the game crashes or your computer freezes
2. If you accidentally win by Domination......you may REPLAY (Reload) the turn without penalty.

There is a List somewhere of all the CFC Members.

You can also read ALL the posts from a particular member:
Some I would choose that would be educational are:
Moonsinger, SirPleb, DaveMcW, Aeson, Bamspeedy, Qitai, Dianthus to name but a few.

Remember it's NOT quantity BUT quality that matters. There are many strong players here that are also great analysts, testers and utility programmers.

Have you tried the monthly Game-Of-The-Month (GOTM) competition?

I respect Apolyton but don't believe they have quite the something special going on here. In addition to EMan's recommendations, may I also suggest checking out the War Academy if you haven't done so already?

EMan, was this the Member's List you were talking about?

Oh, and much as I enjoy answering questions and contributing to threads, I can't hit the boards 12 times a day everyday of the week...

I haven't tried (or really understood exactly what is) GOTM,
but my mind is currently totally set to beating all the HoF from tiny to huge 1 by 1 bit by bit.

Also, the encounter with the academy was the first and most important thing that lured me in here in the first place.
It is great, and it is the symbol of this site -
much analysis of the game, and many tactical tries
(i.e "a pacifist attempt" ).

I still study the academy, and therefor started on tiny, so there is still no milking, no palace flipping, even no RCP yet (I have read the affects of this on the forbidden palace!).

So, E-man and superslug, I c this bunch of people like students of civ, not like some 10 year olds trying to understand how to beat chieftain at all.. that was the case with Warcraft3's community..

I'm VERY happy with the level of this forum, and as someone that have played civ1/2/3 from age 17 to about 25 (and here I am again at 27..), I'm sure I will have some extra knowledge to pass.

I'm even planning my first article..
and since there is no real HoF out there that we know of,
this is the perfect site, since it is the most advanced!
