Im looking for a map which encompasses the area of western europe occupied by trenches during the first world war. Im not intrested in a full european map as that is no use to me. I want to concerntrate on the above specified area in the making of my World War I : Western Front Scenario. The map should go no farther than from Rennes to Hannover and is to include as little (if not none) of Britain as possible. Additionally the map should go no lower than Switzerland, just past the border. If anyone has a map like this or is able to give me any advice on creating a map from scratch I would be most grateful. Because of the scale of the map it is of vital importance that I get everything in the right place. The idea of making such a map with my limited experience is somewhat of a daunting task, so Im calling out for some tips on making a map as close to the real thing as I can get it.

I have heard that with mpedit you can move the maps around so as to chop off bits you don't want. How do I do this?

I don't know why but I never checked the new maps section. The map of France one is good but I would of liked it to have a bit more of germany and a bit less of france. Still its a start.

I assume you have the latest version of MapEdit already? If not, check my signature (for MapEdit), and my homepage too (go to the database section for a collection of maps).

To chop off bits:
- open a map,
- decrease its width and/or height (whichever dimension(s) you want reduced)
- open the map preview (to see what you're doing)
- possibly adjust the map alignment to make sure the proper bits are chopped off (top and/or bottom, left and/or right edge)
