What can you see and when??? Can you help me?

When can I see the enemy ships? When can I see the enemy soldiers? They seem to appear right by me and I had no idea they were there. How does this work? Thanks for the help!!!

"Fog of war" refers to the area of map that you have scouted and can see, but can't see units belonging to other nations on. If you look at the map, you will see areas that are light, areas that are more grey and then areas that are black.

The lightest areas are tiles that you have scouted and can currently see units in.
The greyer areas are tiles that you have scouted but can't currently see units in.
The black areas are tiles that you haven't scouted yet.
