What Civ do you play with?

What Civilization do you usually play as, and what do you name your capital/principle city?

I usually either play as the Romans, or name my "custom" civ the "Michaellians." My capital is always Michaellia, unless I'm playing as the Americans, then I just let the computer name all my cities (and I'm sure you never have dreams of yourself as president).

Depends on what map I play. If I play on earth I always play as the Egyptians because them I can get rid of those annoying Aztecs. If I play on random map I play as the English or the Greeks so the other civ won't be in it.

I was more into being the English on the Earth maps.

I have the tendency to colonize the historical way, so when I played as the English, I'd be in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Guinea, and sometimes Gibraltar and Hong Kong. :D

Given a free hand on Civ2 then I play the English because of the colour.
On Civ1 however, I like custom names. For instance, the last one I played was Emperor Moron of the Idiots! :D

I often play as Emperor Palpatine of the Jedis (or The Empire)

Capital: Coruscant

Or as the Romans in real world...

Anyone who is good at Civ 1 and has never played the English on the Earth map is missing out on a truly fun and challenging game. When you start at such a disadvantage, you really have to use everything you know to have any chance of winning. :)

I usually play as Latvians (press Esc when choosing your Civ).

If I play on Earth, I go with my first Settlers to place where Latvia are located and found my first city Riga - capital of the Latvia.

I have Civ 1, 2, and now 3. I always play as the Americans. I cannot recall ever using another civ.

I play custom. Alway the Empire, as Pompey Octavius, and my capital city is (get this) 1st City. I have two classes of cities. There are the lucky cities I take over (they just happen to be in the right place not to be destroyed), and the unlucky ones (which are destroyed), to be relocated in to my prize "number" cities (2nd City, 3rd City, 4th City, etc. I think you get the idea.).

I usually play as the Russians. My name is Tchaikovsky. And my capital is either Moscow or Tchaikovskygrad.

I play with many different civs, though I prefer the European ones, specifically the Greeks and French, just because I like the history, and the color is bearable. Sometimes I make custom ones (I've got WinCiv), but when I do it is usually a historical civ, such as Japan or Spain. On the world map, I usually take Germany or France, because the thrill of taking over Europe is just too much to pass up. Besides, the Romans and the Greeks are generally easy pickings, and with good planning the Russians, Zulus, or Mongols (the usual contenders in the early game) can be handled without a super-large army. I've also played the English on the world map, with some success (there was no France, and I started with alphabet, so I just waltzed right in and colonized Europe. Not to mention that I got an E. European hut containing an advanced tribe). There is some fun in playing the Americans on the world map, but by the time I'm actively exploring with triremes, the Old World contains, at most, 3 civs. Also, I am a bit disillusioned with the World Map because there is a trireme-navigable route across the Atlantic.

Hey, well its nice to see some fellow Kiwi's amongst these pages!!

Well, i usaully create, maybe rename is a better term, a civ as the Maori (from New Zealand if u dont have a clue who they are!) and quickly find and conquer the English, (hee hee hee!) and then thoroughly populate Australia (in the world map) because there is(very dissapointed sigh!...) no land mass resembling New Zealand!!

My Capital is the great city of Wainuiomata, and is lead by King Voodoo Maui!

hahaha, god i love this game!

i too love being the english on earth... england is nice and easy to defend so ill usually go around the world taking all the other small islands... cuba, madagascar, new guinea, and austraia. after ive biuld an sea going army, ill take euorope and start a big high tech war. if yuo can manage to keep london safe its really fun.

Odd, I thought I posted here.

I usually play the Germans. It's just kind of my thing. I don't take change lightly.

Well it depends which version of Civ for WinCiv I play as the Zulus
for SNES Civ (which by the way has 2 different versions of it) I play as the Japanese on the world map (and you thought England was hard in WinCiv on Earth. Of course sometimes on SNES Civ you can get luckey and get a good Variant of Earth where Japan is connected to Asia (takes the fun out of it though) (of coruse England also is occassionally connected to Europe)

I also enjoy playing as the Aztecs on 3 Civs Earth mainly I have all of North and South America to myself mostly.
Want to hear something interesting though
Ok in my recent Civ Game I played The Romans on Earth in 4 turns I conquer Germany with my 2nd settler (yes I was l;uckey to get two Settlers and I just went NOrth (of course out of the Civs I've conquered so far Berlin is the only city I've conquered without destroying. (so far I have The Germans Chinese Japanese Babylonians and Americans conquered on SNES Civ) And on the two version thing see Microprose itself released SNES Civ in 1994 then in 1995 Koei published it for them and added in Natrual Disasters. (I happen to have the original SNES Civ which was just by Microprose) But when I first played Civ on the SNES I played the Koei version. and sadly I've never played Civ 1 original. (yes I know I'm missing out on alot of fun) Also The SNES Version was the first version I ever played. and my version of Win-Civ came on a 2 Game CD called the explorer with Civ and Colonization. I've never ever got Colonization to work in Windows but running from a Dos Prompt I ran it but Civ works just fine. And The waves flow on my version of Win Civ (I know a few people have said they removed that from win-civ well it works fine for me (wishes Civ 2 and 3 had wavy oceans) there that's my rant and first post (Civ 1 is actually the only one I still play even though I have 3.)

On an earth map, being Aztec guarantees S. America and possibly N. America. It's good for a large land area civ.

I play random civs, but being a Nascar fan my capital is always Daytona.
