What could those "T's" mean

I was browsing the updated screenshots and while looking at the science-advisor I'm puzzled. What do those T's mean at each advance. Some have one, other two or three with a red cross.
It can't be the new units that come available when researching this tech. They are listed separately.
Maybe it is an other required tech, not directly linked in the diagram. I sure don't hope this is it. This sure was a pain in the *** is CivII. You have to have a great deal of experience in order to completely know the entire tech-tree.

The T's are placeholders for Techs.
We like to call it "programmer art" and you'll notice a few more examples of our handiwork in the screen shots...

It only confirms what I was afraid of. Al those crosslinks which aren't connected by a line make it difficult the grasp all the implications.
However, because you have to research almost all techs before going to the next age (something borrowed from AOK???) it doesn't matter what you research.

Those T's are just placeholder graphics. Newer tech tree screens such as <a href="http://www.civfanatics.com/cgi-bin/autoimage.cgi?/civ3images/science809.jpg">this one</a> no longer have those placeholders.
