What do you want most

You spammer. :p I'm busy working on stuff instead of posting. What have you done lately you lazy bum, besides shoot down other peoples' ideas? ;)

It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it.

Hey, I'm actually GOOD AT shooting things. See here:

Half Life 2 Deathmatch. My longest kill streak without getting myself fragged is up to about 25. And no, that's not playing Rocket Man camping on top of some inaccessible building in a poorly balanced map. Shotgun all the way, baby, yeah.

Speaking of Half Life 2, that's what a great game looks like: simple clean fun, something you can enjoy over and over. Just like Civ. :cooool:

That's all I want from Civ4. Let it continue to be fun for a long, long time. That's not asking for much, right? I mean, all it has to do is be the game of the year next year (or in 2006), and that will probably satisfy me.

Personally, I'm more of a guy who enjoys modding and creating things more than I do playing them. So when I get my hands on Civ IV I'll likely end up modding with things more than I will playing with it. ;) But that's my nature.

I agree with others in saying I want to see a better AI.

But the thing I want the most is improved diplomacy. There are several diplomatic improvements in Civ 3 and they were all welcome IMO. But it should go further. Diplomacy with the AI seems very 2 dimensional. They often seem only to sign deals that are vastly in their favor. I'd also like to see, as far as diplomacy goes, the ability to create 3 and 4 sided alliances. This desire may be distinct, I don't know how many others like the idea. Personally, I'd just love to be able to enact some sort of world war on my own terms.

I don't have Conquests though, I only have regular + PTW. So I don't know how much they advanced the diplomacy there.

hello,

most wanted in Civ 4:
- improvement of diplomaty at least like in SMAC (f.e. ask for stop war with allies)
- usable spy system: I suggest that besides "expensive" spy actions there are some spy success events depending on the level of money/buildings/spy's you created
- no need/possibility for building railrod on every terrain square, no radical clearing of forests, at least in modern times.
- several upgrades for fields on different tarrains
- "late game events" to keep the fun alive once you dominate
- new land for discovering: underwater and caves, underworlds, space
- modern pirates with small countries, 1-3 towns (the evil guys)
- space race in steps: space station/moon station/interstellar fly
- longer and ramified tech tree, perhaps with the option of different ways

:)

LoL, let's combine Halflife 2 with Civ 4.

One of the most important things in the real world is the commerce.
We should be able to trade with other civs in a more logical way with as many things as possible, not only furs, oil etc. What about food, electronic devices, clothes, units? But not too in detail but something like this. With trade routes and trading units which go automatically to the others civ's next trading center, airport, harbor?
The consuming of products should be quite more realistic. An airplane uses 5 units oil to fly 1 tile and 10 units bombs to attack a certain target, so you are shown the amount of every resource and how long more it will be able to give you this resource. E.g. I got 2 oil resources in my territory. 1 resource will last 10 years with the present consumption, the other 1 year.
I'd like to upgrade my units in the future time, like modern armors would carry more bombs, my nukes have more damage, something like in Empire Earth.

1/3 Old: Agreeing with Aussie_Lurker and with just about everyone else, A.I. is the foundation for the Civilization series and I believe it can be considered "old" and should be "improved."

1/3 Improved: Reading Trade-peror's Unified Economic Theory, I'd like to see an "improved" economics system that is "more dynamic, flowing, and organic in terms of growth."

1/3 New: I'd like to see the inclusion of Non-State/Transnational Actors in Civilization 4 because it would add a “new,” educational feature which addresses an emerging component in the international system.

I'm surprise no one manchioned Provinces and Civil War. I think this would add great depth to the game. I would love to have my civ plunged into civil war and have provinces.

I'd most prefer a government system resembling SMAC's Social Engineering or something EU2-like. I hope that's what civics is referring to.

While an improved AI is of course also great, I hope they don't do it the way Civ3 did it: dumb down the game so the AI has less trouble dealing with it.

Instead of improved AI, I want an easy to program AI. Creating a truly great AI requires a good feel for game mechanics and strategy. If it was easy to program a new AI and put it in, then all the modders on this site who program AIs could make the AI great. C-Evo let you designate AIs, why not Civ 4(besides complexity).

Other than that, make diplomacy about more than trading services or agreements. Multi-lateralism and mediation would definitely make AI games more interesting.

It's been announced that the AI will be moddable... that said, if one ever wishes for an "easily" moddable AI (that gets results), he's better off finding a new hobby. ;)

improved mp conectivity most the people i know cant host becuse of FW or routers....

Id like to beable to issue a order to all cites to build X item if the city already has that item then it pops up asking what else you wanted. this would be good if you were suddenly attacked and you wnated to build all defensive or offensive units. or you jsut got a new tech and you wnated to build a new city improvement.

border settings. the darn ai walks all over your teritory and declares war if you tell them get lost, however you walk into theirs its always get out or else.

better Naval AI and naval development

That's what I ended up doing with starcraft( a RTS, not turn based). I just fell in love with the editor. Most people ended up making or playing custom maps. I LOVED battlecraft.

I would like to see cities that are in bad locations for growth, but excellent locations for trade/economy etc be able to grow large. Take a look at real life, Tokyo, largest city in the world, 27 million people, and it is in a country which cant feed itself and has to import some of its food. If you have somewhere which is really isolated, like a tundra/1 square island city, then let it be about the same size as it is, but if its in a prime location, but bad for growth, then allow grain imports maybe?
