From one of the war academy articles:

"Capital Note: If you go the peaceful route, don't even build a barracks in your capital. Your capital should be getting as many wonders as possible, and should be built near a river since you can't make settlers while making a wonder."

What does that last bit mean? Why does having the city near a river have anything to do with the fact taht you can't make settlers while making a wonder?

It was just poorly worded.

I think what he ment was that you can't make wonders while making an aqueduct.:confused:
 
Hi Master Shake! Welcome to CFC!

If you start building a wonder in a non-river city, this city will probably reach size 6, before the wonder is completed. From that moment, you will waste growth.

If you choose to make a "settler factory" out of your capitol, a river isn't that important, since your population will go down with 2, each time a settler is built.
