Im like in the middle of the game (egyptians), and I switched my govt from the republic to monarchy. All of a sudden I learned like 5 technologies in one turn. Anyone know what happened? I didnt complete a wonder or anything, just had a bunch of libraries.

Did you have the Great Library and come into contact with another civ?

Does the Great Library only give you tech's if two of the civs you KNOW have them? I wasn't aware of that. Makes the Lighthouse even more valuable on a multi-continent map.

Aye, that's why the two usually go hand in hand on an island map. If you can't find 2 civs, the GL is quite utterly useless.

Actually if you can't find a second civ for a long time, GL can be quite useful. Just never research the tech that makes it obsolete. :)

According to the editor, the egyptians "shun" the republic and love monarchy.

Just my 2 cents!

exactly, i think i did have the library built, i was also on a content with the greeks who are at peaceful terms

Do different civilizations actually like different forms of government? Didn't even know that.
Wonders also become obsolete when another civilization research the requiring technology...
