What is the best way to win that is fun? I mean culture, domination, diplomatic, conquest, etc. Also post why it is best and fun.

For me, its the space race. I like the drama, particularly in a close race. Domination and conquest are fine, but I like the builder style of game-play. I've still not won by culture.

Whatever will achieve victory the quickest. I tend to keep all my options open, and dabble in just about everything (tech, military, culture, etc). I feel out the other Civs to get an idea of where they're weak -- then, if possible, I'll convert my Civ to exploit that weakness.

So basically... whatever allows me the quickest win. I don't particularly find one victory type more superior/fun to others.

I go for conquest only... I have yet to play a game where I didnt disable all the victory's except conquest.

OCC is the most satisfying - and the fastest game.

Best win will be when I finally beat Deity!

I actually have a game where I will probably do that! :goodjob:

Although, now that I can win on Deity, I will try to win all types of victories, and on different types of maps.

This start was kindof fortunate, Large map, Continents, 6 AI's, winded up on an Island shared with Egypt (I was Greece), there was 2 iron totally on the island, 1 deep within my territory and 1 in one of their border cities, I declared war just as it was connected (somewhat), had 15 Swordsmen and more comming at that time.

Anyway, the Difficulty is what is the fun. Trying to stay on tech parity and gaining an advantage is at all times exciting :)

I'm currently going for a 3CC space race victory. It's going to be close...in order to get it I'll have to kill some cultural buildings in my capital, but I'm in a pretty good position to give it a go.

Those darn Russians are going to be right on my heels. But I don't think they have 3 cities with as much production as my 3.

Any victory is fun. Domination and conquest can be long and tediuos at times, but there is nothing like the satisfaction of killing off an AI that's been bothering you all game long.

Most of my wins are spaceship, with diplomatic being 2nd, and domination 3rd. I don't think I've ever won a culture victory, unless it was in an early game at chieftain or something.

Hi,

You can win this game!!

I have been playing now for 10 years and have only won once or twice.

The reward is variety and different civs which you will fac. Its great to build a civ and even though you might come 2nd or 3rd in the space race each game is different and has different challenges

I often disable space race, since I've won that way a lot of times. If I play my cards right I can usually win diplomaticaly, and I've won culturally a couple of times. Although I've won domination a couple of times, it always seems to take so long that I tak e a different way out usually.

Domination can be so satisfying . . .

I play games well just to play.....I Usually go for Diplomatic or Space Race just to end the game, but Cultral and Score are quite often as well. I don't like Domination or Conquest.

I have won by culture (civ total, not city total), space race, and diplomatic victory. Space race was probably most fun when there has actually been some competition. A few times I went for Space race b/c I didn't feel like spending hours (always play large or huge) killing everyone off, even though I could have done it.

Everytime I win by culture, it happens by accident. Well, not by accident, but by surprise.

The few times i have won by diplomacy, I would have to say that that was the most tense single turn ever!

I have never won by domination or conquest b/c I am a warmonger trapped in a builder's body. "I'll launch my massive invasion after I finish the university in these last few cities....I'll launch my massive invasion after I finish the cathedral in my last few cities...I'll launch my massive invasion after I finish the....." You get the idea.

Anyone ever win by one city culture? Is the trick to rush build every culture improvement and build Shakepeare's Theatear ASAP hoping it turns 1000 yrs old to pump out 16 culture points a turn? That seems to be logical way to do it.

I've won Culture by one city twice both with London...

Basically the key is to build cities far away from the city to make sure to give it as much land as possiable and well build build build in that city, never build any units from that city except for a few settlers at the beggining.

Both times I've done it I've had alot of wonders in that city. Once about two rows full in the F11 screen and the other time almost two rows full.

I have won every way. I would say that my last domination on emperor (which was my first emporer win!!!) was the most pleasing victory. Diplomatic seems to end the game suddenly and seems to take away some joy. Space Race is too much of a rushing game even though I win by it alot. Conquest I've only done once. Felt good. Culture is also very rewarding to me, both ways. It takes alot of effort to do it. Even though both of my culture victories I wasn't even trying to get one.

So, to win with one city culture victory, you must build as many wonders as possible in that city? Seems like a no-brainer, but, I thought there might be a trick to it, or maybe a combination of things needed (like the Super/Silly Science City - Colossus, Copernicus' Observatory, Newton's University, SETI).

I have met the culture point requirement for civ culture victory(100,000 or 200,000, whichever it is) many times, but forgot to pound on my closest cultural competitor enough to make sure that my culture is twice theirs.

Anyways, thought there might be some subtle detail about the one city culture victory that I was missing.

It's always the details that get you isn't it?

What I cant stand about space race, diplo, and domination, is that it would really piss me off if I was kicking ass all over the place, and then all the sudden a UN vote comes up and I lose the game, or I have to rush and build the space ship so I can win but I dont get to kill all the other civs like I wanted or maybe it was just 1 civ I was in the middle of a war with that I wanted to kill. Even domination has this problem, unless I raze all cities until all other civs are dead, but then I've won by conquest anyways so whats the point?
