What is the "Value" of a resource?

To confuse the issue more, if you found a Corporation, each additional resource of the type that Corp demands DOES get used. Frex, if you found Sid's Sushi, and you have 6 Fish, each of those counts towards the extra food and culture in cities with that Corp. AIs usually sell you extras much more cheaply. For further info on Corps, there's plenty of threads around here about them.

I probably need to look them up I still haven't really figured out a good Corp... 'strategy'. (for lack of a better word. :p)

Corps are easy, once you see how they work.

1. Found Corp in Wall Street city
2. Spam new Execs to cities that need the bonus - make sure if the bonus is gold or research that you have buildings to multiply it
3. Hog all resources your Corp uses
4. Goto Step 2 (yes, this makes an endless loop)
5. Stop spamming Execs when your city maintenance starts to get to be more than what your HQ is raking in.

I wouldn't send an Exec to an AI unless he was my vassal - I don't want to have to compete for resources, I want them ALL!!!! (That being said, I don't know if my nightmare scenario even happens, as I've always been careful to keep it from.)

If you want more detail, there's tons of threads to read.

I tend to sell my resources to fund overexpansion, in which case I take whatever I can get to keep my economy from crashing while still neglecting commerce in favour of production.

In other cases, I've paid an arm and a leg (around 100GPT + several resources) for something crucial to army upgrades.

Assigning any given resource a specific value simply doesn't work, this depends too much on the gamestate.
