I always remembered the Egypt AI as a WWDC (World Wonder Donation Civilization). They would always get manhandled and be left with 1-2 crappy cities and constantly GUARDED towards everyone. Now these guys are a Greece/Iroquois level civ. Constantly on top or near the top. What changes happened that allowed this civ to go from Zero to Keshik?

Yeah, they're a constant runaway lately. Haven't seen them do badly unless I intervene and borrow all those really nice wonders in Thebes.

I think the reduced aggression may influence it. Egypt can build wonders without fearing as much early attacks, and by Medieval their wonders help them so much they're too strong to take out by a typical AI.

I noticed Byzantium is also holding itself a lot stronger (was a runaway on the other continent with its slightly-less-runaway pal Sweden, and together they destroyed Carthage), but I think it may be due to the fact it FINALLY has a coastal bias.

Really? I've only met Egypt on one of my 3 full BNW games, and they were left with two tundra cities after a Shoshone attack.

All AI has a personality that is randomized each game by 1-2 flavors, their starting position is also a factor on how well they will handle.

It's all a dice roll really. Who's the neighbor, what resource they get, have they founded a religion etc.

I always felt Egypt did really well when I was moving through Prince-Emperor. In my countless Immortal and occasional Deity games, not so much.

Egypt does seem to have gotten his act together a fair bit better, yes. He doesn't seem to hog AS many wonders anymore as well, but that may just be the other civs getting more wonderhoggy themselves. When they start on Tundra however, they'll falter. On Desert-based starts they're a lot stronger.

Venice has taken over as the wonder donor if they get a good start with good hammers. I've never had a game where Enrico hasn't been totally wiped out.

Hey Enrico, you only have one city, pal. You can't defend it with wonders and great works, k?
