[GS] What is your favorite or "go-to" map type?

I love the idea of terra but dont like its implementation. I would have it so the 'old world' is 2/3 of the map and having all the civs and city states, the new world being 1/3. I feel this would also be more balanced for the Norways and Maori's of the world.

Terra was my absolute favourite map type on Civ 4 as it doevtailed perfectly with IV's colonisation and vassal mechanics. It just doesn't seem to work as well in VI

Continents and Islands, though I've been enjoying tilted axis a lot lately.

I'm not a fan of seven seas/inland sea. They seem to result in far too much settle-able land.

After Gedemon's ludicrous size TSL Terra maps failed to work, I only play on Archipelago, Huge, with low sea level and at marathon pace.
Once I've won with every Civ (except Canada and USA who are boring) I might try something else. :)

I really like Island Plates for the feeling of building up the starter cities and getting out into the fray. I also like that it puts naval units on a more equal level. But I've been doing pangea a lot more recently.

My go to map type is Fractal. It produces decent randomness and pleasant surprises.
But lately I just stick with Continents, partially because they got rid of them being southpole-northpole oriented.
The new types which came with GS produce too many mountains and chokepoints.

I always used to play mainly Continents but now I do Continents and Islands to mimic the real world while being random and not based off of Earth's locations.
