I'm new to this game, playing Mornach, although no win yet, it's very close :).

Just curious, how much gold you guys get for selling tech. In my game, Korea is the only country that has decent cash on hand (1800), but bankrupt after gettting my insdutrialization., others don't get higher than 50. My medicine tech got an offer by Korea by two luxury and 170gpt  . May be is not really big deal to you guys, but to me it is, the highest I've ever seen in industrial age. And as usual, we can go higher than what the AI offer.

I once got a rubber, 220 gpt and a lump sum of maybe 2000 for Electronics (I had almost finished building the Hoover Dam). Do not remember exactly, is history now.
If the other is a rich civ, he can offer good gpt, but at the end of the twenty turns he will probably be totally broke.

297 gpt, world map and 5 lump gold for genetics... what was he thinking?

After I got Education and the Persians' GL went away, I sold Education to them for 125 gp, incense and a world map.

The *right* order would be:

You got Education, sold it to Persia and then the GL got obsolete.
It's just the owner of a wonder that must have the tech to get the own wonder obsolete.

Darn, I can't even make as half as much of that money, I don't know why AI do make that much money than us, is this some kind of "cheating"? Eventhough AI has more cities than me, most of them are very close to each other and very bad terrains.

The other thing I've notice if somebody can explain it to me. I once buy the tech in Ancient age for around 500g. The next turn when I talk to him, the money is gone?!? I know you might tell me that he probably trade with others but in this case I'm very sure he is not, since everybody has that same tech and he is the weakest one, there is no luxury resource, and I talk to other civs to find out if anyone has that much money, NO ONE, all of the has either 0 or 10g in their funds.

So I don't where is he spend that kind of money in the early game, does anyone know?

And by the way, if the AI has no money, in which they are usually is, where is the money to maintain their massive units under monarchy? I got my unit lost due to negative funds.

ive sold 2 industrial age techs for a total of 750GPT. i think it bankrupted them after 8 turns, cause after tahtthey always had less than 100 gold to trade with (they must have lowered there tech spending alot...)

I dont remember what i gave him, probably 2 or 3 techs, and i got in return 1800 gold and about 850 gpt... i was quick to bargain and get more out of him though ;)

I have posted this pic before and I dont think I have seen more gpt reported.

wow, I knew there would be a lot, but didn't know.... 1410gpt, darn...

Still, it doesn't make sense to me AIs can make that much money in one turn, if you don't make a trade, you wouldn't see 1410g in his screen after one turn, would you?

It's totally unfair, seems like the AIs have some kind of hidden cash compare to us.

They don't, actually. By the time all your tiles are railed and your cities are 12+ with courthouses and whathaveyou, that income is quite achievable, even with the science slider at 60-80%. Especially on the bigger maps. If you don't see such sums in their treasury, it is because they spend everything every turn.
I think Inter32 is scoring higher than Woody here. Woody gets 1410 gpt for two techs, but Inter 800 gpt for one, and a considerably bigger lump sum too.

I got 860 and 1400 gold from persia last night for superconductor. Anyone noticing a trend here? Superconductor seems to be VERY highly valued by the AI

You would be amazed at the rates they are prepared to pay, it's whether they have the cash or not.

1000 gpt for a modern tech is normal if they can afford it, 800 gpt for Industrial techs is also to be expected.

Sorta related- One time the English had under 1000 gold easily and they offered me 800gp a turn for a tech. Within a couple dozen turns the english were not broke but had over 10,000 gold!!!! No I was not giving them 800/turn, they were giving me the 800 :)

With the tech I gave them they must of turned around and sold it to the other AI's for several hundred gold a turn.

Yep, Chris, one rule: sell to all who can buy on the same turn, or they will.

I once got about 400 gold per turn for a tech, but it was in the industrial age. Usually on Monarch and Emperor, the AI is too close for comfort in the modern age, and I will not sell to them!

One of the few Golden Rules Which Always Apply.
Often you may even have to give stuff away for free just to avoid the possibility that others will make money out of it. It helps your reputation at same time. :goodjob:
