What level do you play on.

And it takes forever to chop jungle, plus you need a level-2 tech (Bronze working) to chop, plus chopping yields no hammers (unless forests), plus if you chop you are forsaking the later science yield from jungle (post universities). Left in place, jungles are great for defense and great for science, but so-so for food (tiles are just self-sustaining on food) and even worse for production. In sum, jungles mean a slow start--not a bad start, just a really slow start.

Depending on my mood, I mostly play on Prince or King. I can and have won at the higher levels, but at that point the game ceases to be fun and becomes a chore.

imortal all the way sometimes deity, i cant play on any lower setting as its not challanging and i just lose intrest

I play Empreror (level 6) almost exclusively. Forces me to be fairly aggressive, though, so sometimes I drop down to King so I can focus more on building. I can beat the game at Deity and Immortal, but not consistently.

As for map type, I like "random". (Wish it was a little more random, because I can usually figure out what I ended up with after a handful of turns.) I only play small maps because anything larger really taxes my dated system starting around the renaissance in Gods & Kings. Didn't have quite as big a problem in the original. -_-

Playing on King right now as the English... Celts and French DOW'd me with "sneak attacks" (although my spies and other civs' spies told me).

I was able to hold off "armadas" of 4-5 Privateers and 2-3 Frigates with just an Iron Clad and a Privateer (and cover fire from cities and some city state help).

The issue is of course... Persia... Who is lightyears ahead of anybody in terms of science...

I'm actually kinda having fun with this game. I do think I will start another King game with Ethiopia and go for the Cultural victory that way... Play with 2-3 cities so that "spirit of Adwa" will most likely apply to almost any civ that DOWs me.

Deity but I think I have secret self-loathing issues because I keep playing it even though the Fall patch made it silly :crazyeye:. I still win the same amount(took a good bit of adapting) but it's much less enjoyable than before because now the AI is doing disgusting stuff like this and it gets silly(note the Turn #, standard speed):

Yeah, 5 cities on turn 34.

And the spam, oh GOD the unit spam. Of course, I seem to have the godawful misfortune of being placed next to Siam EVERY game, and you can imagine what it's like trying to fight through Stampy spam...

But Immortal usually just hits that point where it's challenging for a while but then the AI like takes a nap or something and you start to pull away so I kinda quit playing it, I wonder what it's like in the Fall patch since I've heard every difficulty got impacted pretty hard by it, maybe I should find out.
