What Music Do you Like?

What are your favorite bands?

I like alot of punk and metal, but I am open to all forms of music.

My favoratie bands are:

Driller Killer
(...)
Sepultura
(...)
and there are some more too.

The Portuguese Sepultura :goodjob:

Love a good house! Need to feel the beat. :D
I don't have one type of music, I like them all (-harpsichord, I really hate that musical instrument).
Sting, Bryan Adams, U2, David Fonseca, Blasted Mechanism, Mariza, Bob Sinclar, Safri Duo, Goo Goo Dolls, Terrakota, Linkin Park, Queen of the Stoneage, Mercado Negro, The Fray, The Killers, Scooter, Mazgani, Rita Redshoes, Celine Dion, Green Day, Nelly Furtado, and can go on and on and on...

I am first and foremost a metalhead. These days, I'm specifically into obscure doom, black, and old-school thrash metal more than anything else. Outside of metal, I pick and choose a bit -- Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash; a fair amount of classical music; even some relatively mainstream pop from time to time (the Swedish band Kent is a favourite).

Eh my music taste are quite diverse, I guess:
let me take the top 10 bands I listened to in total since I dled last.fm
1 Radiohead (especially kid A and amnesiac albums)

2 daft punk (rollin' and scratching, burning, rock an' roll and their alive 2007 album are my fav)

3 beirut (oh so beautifull music, rather unknown yet so here are some links and info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beirut_(band) Live, Beirut's shifting roster generally consists of Condon accompanied by Perrin Cloutier (cello/accordion), Jason Poranski (guitar/mandolin/ukulele), Nick Petree (drums), Kristin Ferebee (violin), Paul Collins (organ/keys/tambourine/ukulele), Jon Natchez (baritone sax/mandolin/glockenspiel), and Kelly Pratt (trumpet/euphonium).)

4 M.I.A. Sri Lankan (father Tamil tiger)/ British electronic/rap/world music. (it's hard to describe her music actually, i guess :crazyeye: )

5 digitalism: Deutsches Elektronischer Musik hergestellt in dem Bunker aus Dresden.

6 Kroke: Polish Klezmer band, very nice with a wine.

7: Marc Moulin: Belgian new Jazz pioneer.

8: Duke Ellington: it ain't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing..

9: Nid & Sancy: local electrotrash :D

10: gorillaz, just great music overall.

honourable members (who don't rank high since I got them rather recently or underplayed: Mogwai, common, Atari teenage riot, Boards of canada, Miles davis, Blonde redhead, Beasty boys, Sun Ra, Kavinsky and Aphex twin)

Is there limits on which bands you can like now if you like a certain other band?
As skadistic has pointed out...

I guess words don't matter but when you listen to a band like Screwdriver and Dead Kennedys it just shows you don't listen to the words. One is a white power hate band and the other is its antithesis.

One is classified under nazi punk and the other has a sing called "nazi punks f*** off'

Plus mentioned Sepultura particuarly as they are a politically aware Brazilian band with black members and thats rather at odds with Skredrivers white power idealogy, don't you think?

My favorites are by far, Reggaeton and most types of Latin.

@the op - How the hell can you like bands like Sepultura and the Dead Kennedys and yet listen to Skrewdriver? Man do some research on the bands you listen to.

I know about their politics, it really doesn't bother me, I like their music, doesn't mean I agree with them.

Your statement is more fascist then you might think.

BTW: Just because I like Minor Threat doesn't mean I am straight edge either LOL

Hell I listen a lot of reggae (a very religious genera) and subscribe to any gods. I'm not saying you can't disagree with the message and like the music. Its just funny when some listens to both nazi and anti-nazi music.

there you go, I like the Bad Brains, doesn't mean I have to believe in Jah. I am not a National Socialist, but it doesn't mean I can't listen to Nationalist music.

Last week I bought an N.W.A cd! seriously.

I don't always argee with the lyrics, but as long as they are geniune and the music is good, I will like the band.

The whole point of Skrewdriver is that they are neo-nazi band. Fact.

You can't just ignore lyrics, they are an interagal part of punk/metal music.

impossible question to answer for me as I seem to find enjoyable songs in just about every genre but have not been "really into" a particular genre since I was 20ish.

As Merk also pointed out, Music is about its artistic and/or pleasurable aspect, not so much about the quippy lyrical meanings.
