By nature, much of this will be subjective opinion.

Regardless, I think the following are MUST changes.

-- "Horse Archer" is not classified as an "Archer" type. Any rule that is blatantly counter-intuitive makes the game harder to play and more difficult to understand. Horse Archer should be a mounted AND archer unit. If they don't want it to be an archer, then change it to "Mounted Swordsman" or something. Same on Tank not being a Gunpowder unit. Mech Infantry not being an armored unit.

-- Gunships can't fly over water. I've seen "Apocalypse Now" just like everybody else.

-- U.N. doesn't allow you to vote in any civic. This defeats game creativity. Okay, I build an interesting civ and have a wonderful game doing an ingenious Mercantilism / Representation strategy. Suddenly my economy collapses because some more PC civics are voted in.

I agree- Firaxis did some idiotic things, here are what I can add:
1.Fix UU'ssome are useless, and/or overpowered. Praetorian comes to mind...
2.Allow barbs to develope more: Build modern units, bacome an independant nation.
3.Stretch the later eras- they go by in a mixed-up way and make the game less fun.
4.More resources.
5. Etc.

I still like the game despite my ideas though:D

Then your Axe w/Cover would deal w/Archers AND HA ~ that kind of defeats the whole "combined-arms" thing they were aiming for.

I agree, though, about Gunships. They should at least be able to go over Coast.

and, agree on the UN

Excuse me a stupid question, but ...
Does the creators take into consider, what are we proposing?
I mean ... how close is this site to the creators?
Do the moderators send our proposals them?

@gaiur

Yes and no, they don't directly correspond with the site (to my knowledge), but many workers/playtesters for firaxis are members and posters here.

You don't need electricity to build coal plants.
This is REALLY idiotic.

"4.More resources."

More clumping.

The map always winds up with too much mixed terrain (even Smart Map is guilty of this). Earth isn't like that. It has clumps of mountains, desert, forest etc.

Oh Grinder, you are so spot on! In particular I can't stand the isolated, random desert tiles. It's ridiculous. Better map scripts are definitely needed.

I think that the mixed terrain was intentional to prevent cities from becoming boring. Though oddly enough I usually end up with very homogenous reigons.

And is it just me, or is this topic essentially a one-thread version of the "Ideas & Suggestions" subforum? Remember, the subforum may be slower, but that just means that everyone who looks at it will see your idea!

They're not going to change the fundamentals of how the combat system works, and that's what putting units into multiple unit types does. Since the game is easy to mod, you could mod it to change the terms for units from descriptive names to UNIT TYPE I, UNIT TYPE II, and so on to keep yourself from being confused.

It is the desert tiles in particular that are cause the most frustration, although tundra would be a close second. A map homogeniser type would be a cool addition.
