What is the best religion for amurites. I was thinking AV for more magic, but OO has a nice spellcaster which is allways nice. The order or empyrean might be nice to get some strong melee units, but they require a decent tech diversion. That is why I was thinking AV, it is right along your tech path.

skip the religion religion , they really don't need one.

iirc you can get a spell that adds +1 happy pretty early to make up for the lack of temples.

as for other options , you should be heading right for mages and just using massive mage armies to tear everyone else down

I found the Council of Esus to be handy, Hidden Nationality chanters are rather fun.

I realize that the amurites arent focused on religion, but if I had a choice, what would be the best one for them? Or should I go with whatever all the other civs are doing?

Provided you're not landlocked, OO. Hemah is a 5th Archmage, and unlocks at Arcane Lore, along with Govannon. Otherwise, go with Empyrean for Chalid, also a 5th Archmage, but that does take you into the Religion line. Still, I like running Theology for yet another +2 exp so one can pop Wizards right off the build queue, so it wouldn't bother me to have to go for Religious Law.

(My present game, my Adepts come out of my primary production center with 20 exp: Theology+Apprenticeship+Conquest+Form of the Titan+Command Post+a 10 mana Cave of the Ancestors. However, I am playing Noble level with Blessings of Amaltheon toggled.)

Order
The Order has little synergy with the Amurites. Unless your mages are marching on the world and matinence is crippling, or the AV is going crazy, it's rather pointless.

Empyrean
Since mages are often weak and assasins are always targetting them, Empyrean is good. Ratha to kill assasins, along with Blinding Light to stop enemy units from killing your mages is useful. Also, Chalid is awesome.

Runes of Kilmorph
Excellent for teching to Sorcery, afterwhich, changing to other religions might be useful.

Fellowship of Leaves
Lorewise I like this because FoL is an opposition to winter. I also love their priests, though there is no unique synergy.

Octopus Overlords
Hemah is a great mage, and the Asylum provides useful sages.

Council of Esus
Great for taking out enemy mages and Gibbon.

Ashen Veil
Good for sages, but the Hell terrain isn't worth it IMO.

Overall I'd go for CoE or Empyrean.

I forgot about assasins. Doing Empyrean didnt occur to me. It will require a fairly signifigant tech departure from going full magic. That is why I tend to play AV, they just fit on the magic line.
