What style map do you prefer?

I like pangea, continents and terra. Terra is neat because of the barbarian cities that form on the uninhabitated island.

My last game was Terra. I didn't even realize these maps featured an "undiscovered" continent until somewhat late in the game. After the initial round of map trading, I counted up all the Civs and realized we were all on the same continent. From that information, I assumed there wasn't much point exploring the ocean and largely disregarded it.

Then, later in the game, while I was doing a perfunctory map trade, I noticed the edges of a coastline in the middle of the ocean. Puzzled, I sent a galleon to investigate, and was stunned to find a virgin continent populated by unwashed barbarians.

Needless to say, the race was on. I machined tons of units onto the continent and largely claimed it as my own. Those barbarians cities are juicy targets indeed. Another point of interest is that once the "discovery" was passed around to the other AI civs, I noticed an almost immediate increase in AI "colonist" ships. I have this feeling that a few of them had been trying to colonize for awhile, but they were being thwarted by the tide of roving barbarian units.

i love small or tiny highland maps with lots of civ's keep the empire a bit small and thus for a not too dedicated micromanager much more handleable, also it give very little room to evry one so wars break out plenty.

i like highlands becasue they give quite a few natural choke points wich make em more strategic imho. (shame the AI doesnt really take advantage of this)
