what techs should not be traded and why?

im thinking RoN style knowledge can not be "baught" and i think in civ techs that are like knowledge can not be traded... but ... it sorta can..

what tech do you or do you think should be flaged cant be traded?

I usually dont trade things like gunpowder, invention, and iron working...?

I wouldn't want anything to be flagged against trading. There are some that I wouldn't trade to a competitor who is near or beyond my strength, but I will trade them to someone who is an age and a half behind me. There are times it is nice to bring backwards AI up a bit so they can help fight a particular menace.

Trading is key to winning. I trade any tech I can, no matter what it is.

I don't think there should be any techs that CAN'T be traded either.

There are many times when I don't trade a tech for a variety of reasons, but I don't think I should ever be denied the option to do it.

There are no techs i won't trade to the AI. However, there are times when I wouldn't trade a certain tech to an AI for tactical purposes. Otherwise, it's pointless since the AI will get it by their own research (or some othe AI's research) very soon anyways.

Thus I trade it and reap some benefits.

There are some situations where i wont trade:

-Writing/literature when i go for GL.
-key militairistic science when i am planning to conquer the world and dont want to meet strong units. (in this case i also dont trade stuff leading to that tech)

I don't trade techs at all...I'm always so much ahead of AI(i am still playing with Warlord-moving to regent very soon cause it's getting boring with warlord) that by trading them techs i allow them to closen up with me and so I just let them research it by themselves

In the early game I'll trade any tech for another tech. later I will trade any tech for gold to an ai that is way behind. At imes i will even give a tech. Later I must get an importent tech in return. Also, won't trade for tactical reasons Last game wouldn't trade chivalry or gunpowder to ai i was planning to attack.

I will usually trade anything if it's important to my survival, but if they're my enemy I usually won't trade them things like Gunpowder, Steam Power, Replaceable Parts, Espionage (not sure how much the AI actually takes advantage of espionage though), Fission, Synthetic Fibers, etc, etc, etc.

Am I correct in assuming that any tech you trade to a friend will end up with all other ai's? I have been operating under this assumption and don't trade a tecn I don't won't them all to get. In fact, once I trade a tech I go to all ai's trade the same tech.

yes you are pretty correct unless there are many wars among them or they havent met.

I don't know, in the game I'm playing right now Persia, France, Rome, and the Aztecs are at the same tech level (currently about Industrialization and Replaceable Parts) while Greece, Egypt, Zululand, China and England are at about Steam Power, and Germany, Russia, and ther Iriquois are still in the Middle Ages. I'm at Replaceable Parts and am about to get Refining. There have been very few wars that weren't between me and another civilization. So basically, my game is very divided at the moment, although this usually isn't true I must say.

I try not to trade anything that gives the AI new units, but i will if i have to.

You better get used to trading if you plan on playing on regent. The AI will get ahead of you quickly if you don't trade.
