ok... I was at war with france and well thay had only 4 citys left.
so since thay wher on an small island i used peratropers for the atack aginst a city to open up a beach head.. whell thay had only 3 rifel men and a sowrds man in it so i said how can old rifel men from 1862 and a sowrds man stand up aginst 7 peratroopers + that wher badly hurt one rilel man had health of 1 out of 4 another had 2 out of 4 and the last rifel man had a health of 3 out of 4 the sowrds man had full health..but any way when the smoke was gone i had 2 peratroopers out of 7 left badly hurt.. thay lost only a rifil man.. i know 4 more cases like this like sub vs man o war and sub loses!!!!!!! thats bull and how can i fix this bull i had a tank killed by a sperman!!! how can that hapen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can u see panzers in ww2 being distroyed by the zulu spermen!!! i cant!!!:mad:
 
Was any of the rifleman/swordman injuried afterwards?
 
Use the editor to edit your civ3mod.bic file. Double, triple, or do whatever you want to the HP, or give a HP bonus to each modern unit. I use +1 HP for every step above ancient, and I use conscript=4 HP, regular=6, veteran=8, elit=11.

This makes odd results extremely rare, while it keeps closer fights close enough (it's no fun when a Swordsman always wins againt a spearman after all.
 
I think firixas should do it like the barbians and levels

Deity +0% vs barbian attacks
Emporer+100% vs barbian attacks
etc.

They should have something like this:

modern units have +200% vs middle age unit

modern units have +300% vs ancient age unit

etc.

consider the ADM value differences - +100% would be far too much!
 
Then maybe +50%?
 
But then marines, paratroopers, helicopters, etc. would be useless in the modern age. I don't know about you, but I use marines a lot.
 
Ill try some of that but ther shold be somthing wher a tank cant even be hurt by a sperman, sowdman ect. first of all how will a sowdsman get so close that he can even hut a peratrooper, tank what ever.. how can rifel men stand a chance aginst paratroopers i mean it takes a 1 min. to reload the damn rifle comperd to 3 secs. for a paratroopers SUBMACHINGUN!!!!!!!! 1 shot a min vs 400 a min. see my point....... o ya we cant ferget th hight impack armor the peratroopers have..

A spearman can easily get close enough to a tank to attack it.... Tanks don't have very good aim. Of course once the spearman gets to the tank he'd have to figure out a way to hurt it.
 
Modifying hit points is the way to fix it - stop complaining and do it

Hay its ok i won.. i have over 150 mech infantry 30 moderan armor 20 bombers 15 jet fighters 10 transports 16 batlleships 15 atomic subs, 10 cariers and lots more com berd to ther 10 rifel men 3 longbowmen 2 sowds men and i sunk the navy of 10 ironclads with my cariers soooooo.....:D
 
Nothing will be changed in multiplayer. Just get used to it. The poor French, with only 4 cities left, deserve a better chance to live. It's unfair to crush a civ because he doesn't have a resource or he is a few techs behind. It is just game balance.

If you don't like it, change unit hp values with artillery. It works very well for me :D
 
I did nothing to france.. thay atacked egypt who is my allie and at the time france was 20 times stronger then egypt so i was helping my allie
 
ok. let me put to you a few stats

Rifleman 4.6.1
Paratrooper 6.8.1

If I'm not mistaken.
The paratrooper has only 6 attack, against fortified riflemen (+50% defence) in a city(+50%defence? unsure here).
Looking at this, i see no reason why 7 paratroopers should win against 3 riflemen.

I have read elsewhere that to be sure of victory you need 10-1 units. If you used better units than paras i might feel sorry for.
As for man-o-war vs sub, it depends who is attacking and what version you have, but sometimes the percentages go against you. Sometimes they're for you.

And as for the spearmen vs tank, these things occasionally happen (as I'm sure Zouave could tell you, tho i think he's focusing on culture flipping now), but not regularly enough to be too bad. And hopefully if you've got tanks vs. spearmen, you're survival won't be depending on that one battle.

The rifleman only needs one shot to take out the paratrooper before he hits the ground. It seems that a significant number of these "what the hell" threads involve situations where the stats are evenly matched or even in favor of the AI. Custer, uh, I mean Red Baron, the "what the hell" comments should be coming from your subjects as in "what the hell is he doing risking our sons lives against the irrelevant French" and "what the hell was he thinking by only using 7 paratroopers when we have such a large kick ass military."
 
There's nothing wrong in losing paratroopers to riflemen. Paratroopers are pretty mediocre attackers
 
Paratroopers ARE mediocre on attack, they should not be used for primary attack, but only in cases where you're facing stiff opposition and your front is stagnating.

Drop them behind enemy lines and use them to get the enemy to pull troops off their front to fight them. Destroy improvements that affect unit movement, or production. That gives you an advantage against your prime objective. They are essentially sacrificial units. Don't expect them to win.
