Was this a game for iphone or something? What is this game? Another thread mentioned a feature of civ rev that may be in civ5 (involving losing your capitol). That worries me. I ask about civ rev, as my impression may be wrong. My impression is that it's a game designed for an inferior platform (anything not pc is inferior haha) with simplistic gameplay.

This has me concerned that civ5 will also have simplistic gameplay. What worries me is they will "dumb down" the civ franchise to meet the console/phone market demands. I felt civ4 had the right amount of complexity. Not as complex as say the europa games, but not too simple that it doesn't require thought from the player.

Please tell me my fears are unfounded.

WTH...phone gaming....lol never in a million years...but yeah it was a PS3/Xbox affair....

I'm just waiting for mac fans to attack me for inferring mac is an inferior gaming platform. :)

the transport issue has me concerned. It looks like they are dumbing that down. sigh. But in this case it seems minor, and might actually be more convenient.

I've played CivRev, it really is dumbed down version of PC Civ. But from the reviews and stuff so far, I dont think we have to worry about that.

The parts of CivRev that are currently rumored to be reused in Civ5 have nothing to do with simplistic (dumbed down) gameplay.

If you have an XBox360 I believe there is demo available.

I tried CivRev and have to say I did not find the interface simpler or intuitive.

Civ Rev is fun for what it is. It's a good console game, fun in multiplayer (single player isn't much fun at all). It is much simpler than Civ IV, but Firaxis is smart and they know the difference between a console game and a PC game. They're not going to dumb down a PC game like they would for a console game. They've already said that a Civ V game will take about as long as a Civ IV game, so I don't think you have to worry about them oversimplifying Civ V.

The idea of Civ Rev was you could sit and play a game in one sitting. It was pretty good for being on a console and did have some nice features that sped up game play. I normally play around Prince level on Civ 4 but on Civ Rev I could win on Deity with the right strategy so it was easier (or maybe more exploitable) then Civ 4. Every game was pretty much the same though. You would start on the same continent and there is a second continent you can eventually settle.

I hope so...

A good thing about rev was that it drew fans from and appealed to a larger base than normal civ games.
