[GS] What were they thinking with barbarians?

I am experiencing this more and more in my GS games and yes it is super annoying to start on the continent w/o barbs. I dont get eurekas and can't gather enough era score so plunge into dark classical..

It's clearly not working as intended therefore a bug but I agree the new starting location scripts are the likely culprit.

As for why it wasn't found well there is only so much you find with a small testing team - no way you will ever replicate what you find when millions of players with different setups (both in game and in terms of equipment) get their hands on the game.

This is an extremely easy to notice bug, which they should not have missed. No matter how small their testing team is.

How do you know this? What did they say their intention was? I'm surprised they admitted it.

There is a bug in your post. Please fix it! ;) :p

His post I can read for free, not for 120 US$.

Admitted? What? When? Since 1991, since Microprose and on, I have yet to see MP-->FXS admit anything.

They are the real Deity (only?) in their games... or so they think.

When I first saw people discussing this issue I didn't know what people were talking about because I was always getting about the same amount of barbarians as before GS. This last game that I just finished playing as Australia on a continents map was the first one that I saw what people are talking about because I was on the no barbarian continent. In addition to a classical dark age, this lead to me neglecting my military as I had no need until Mali declared a surprise war and came at me with wave after wave of ships and ground troops that I can only assume he was gold purchasing. Since I had a big tech lead it wasn't hard to gold purchase a few advanced troops of my own while building a few quick ancient walls but still, not having barbarians really does alter the game negatively.
