What's the first game you ever played?

First game I was addicted to was probably Transport Tycoon, which led to a Rollercoaster Tycoon addiction, which led to a Age of Empires 2 addiction, which led to a Civ 3 addiction.

Three games I played about the same time.

That old Star Trek game where the Enterprise was a letter "E", Klingons were "K". Each sector was a 10x10 grid. (*=star, o=planet, B=star base). You have to go sector to sector to kill all the Klingons. Long range sensors would show (x,y,z) for (number of klingons,bases,stars). One version had several commander and one super commander class ships also. (C and S). They were stronger, and could tractor you to their sector. You could find youself in another fight, instead of on you way to get repaired and refueled.

I also played Rogue. This was a D&D game with B=bats, D=dragons, etc.

Empire was yet another early game with (F=fighter, A=army, D=destroyer, etc) I think the enemy was lower case.

I think my dad had a shareware version of that star trek game. It sounds exactly like that, but it didn't have klingons. It was a good time.

I played SCRAMBLE (a ASCII flight simulator programmed in BASIC I believe) on the East German KC-87 around 1988.

The first game I can remember playing is Donkey Kong Country, but it's quite possible I played a Battleship game for the SNES before that, it's also quite possible that I played the TMNT games for the NES first.

While typing, I also recall playing Super Mario Brothers and SMB 3 at about this time, maybe a little earlier.

edit: Duck Hunt, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers, and Sonic the Hedgehog come to mind.


But I think I played games on a gateway around that time too, the Amazing World of Richard Scary and that sort of thing.

Quite interesting gallup.
I can't remember since I was quite young. Maybe five or so.
My dad bought C-64 for us so it might been some C-64 game. But since I was too young to understand anything about computer games, I doubt it. My cousins had early Atari. If I remember correctly they had Space invaders. We spent quite a lot of time together so it might been that too.

Now when I start to pondering, flashes comes...to...my...mind...

I remember that our TV shows that unique C64 loading screen and casette player/loader. So in that case, it might actually been C64 game. Damn, I was so young starting gaming. And what it has brought me today...absolutely nothing.

I think it was a self made game where you had to guess/calculate numbers. I don't remember what the name of the computer was. It was before the days of the C64.
You could almost call me veteran...

Philips MSX? I purchased a MSX, but it was a Panasonic MSX. And yes it was in the mid 80'ies.

I used to think that MSX was a system developed by Philips, but it was actually a kind of standard, developed by Microsoft, that could be used by any PC manufacturer.

I was also surprised to learn that several well known games series made their debut on the MSX, like Konomi's Metal Gear.
