What's the rough number of turns the AI needs to win at Immortal?

I like what I've read regards Rise and Fall. I've started thinking about buying the base game in the Winter sale. But I'm wondering how much it has improved and wondering whether to wait till R+F drops and see what changes it actually brings.

The thing is, I played the game a couple of times when it was released. My second game was at Immortal and not knowing anything much about the mechanics I still managed to fumble my way to victory sometime well after turn 350 (can't remember exactly -it was a long time ago). The late game was a dull sequence of clicking end turn while the AI didn't do anything much. And I didn't do anything much but just fumble my unplanned way to a space victory. So I didn't buy it.

I'm intrigued to try the game now but I'm wondering if they've tightened that up? I've heard and read many different opinions about the current state of the game but they're all subjective. So I realised the most objective way to understand the state of the game would be knowing how long the AI now needs to reach victory. So I'm wondering on a standard map with standard settings what's a rough estimate of the turns the AI needs to win at immortal difficulty?

763

Of course if you just leave them to it, it's roughly 223

Not sure if you're being facetious or trying to be funny?
OP was a serious question. I play Civ 5 at Immortal - sort of hits my sweet spot regards challenge and relaxation - and I know I need to be looking to be getting victory well before 340 turns or I'll likely lose. If I play Civ 5 at Deity, I need to completely refine my game and get to victory under 240 turns at least.

My experience with Civ 6 at release was the opposite, I could dilly and dally as long as the dallying was dillying and still win. I'm trying to find some kind of objective parameter as to the current state of the game - and wondering how many rough turns the AI needs at Immortal to achieve victory seems like a reasonable measure for me. If you think that's worthy of mockery, good for you.

To be honest the only way I have ever seen the A.I win on Immortal is religion, and that can be pretty early to 200+. Ive had peace games drag to 220 and havn't seen an A.I come close to winning(besides religion). So it had to be in the ballpark of 250+. On Deity they can cheese culture wins sometimes pretty early, like 190, but still to late to not...just..die to dom.

The range is huge. Saying that, in recent immortal games I feel safe in the 300 to 320 range, but it is best to keep a close watch above 220, but generally if I let it go it is above 300.

CSB: The fastest I have seen the AI win on Deity was a culture win by Greece in the 160s. It was an isolated start for me and I had not even met them.

Thanks folks. That's a big help. I understand the range will be huge but a rough ball park helps me a lot. It helps to know that I will feel pressured if I slack too much. What I experienced at release was disheartening. I think I will be buying the game come the Christmas sale.

It is on sale now for 50%
Thanks for the heads up - the Autumn sale officially finished on Tuesday so I assumed it wouldn't be on sale anymore. I guess they're trying to get sales off the Rise and Fall announcement.
Thanks

The late-game still sucks, imo, but the game as a whole has slightly improved. Some very bad bugs keep popping up, though.
