Global warming :) Basically once you get factories/Hospitals, that will appear.

I've always wondered what it could be, at first I thought like u did, so was keeping telling a friend of mine "of course u can have more than one GA, u idiot ! in MA I'm always in GA ! :D "
Then I played Monarch, and I still had this cute little sun, although I was not in good shape, that is to say the weaker civ...
Now it seems like I'm the idiot !

If you build the President in Denial wonder then global warming goes away...

It's basically a warning to get your worker armies ready, if you haven't already done so.

Of course if you're way behind it tells you everone else has factories and hospitals and are about to attack you.

That was good!!!!

The first time I saw it I thought it had been there the entire time.

HEHE, I also always thought that it indicates a Golden Age... I still often wondered that mine lasted for dozens of turns, and that I read before that it has ended and so on... :)

They had that in the Manual?
I didn't see that in the 2 times I read it. I thought it meant you are assured to win or something.
But then I realized that it only meant pollution and global warming. Now I look for it every game. I have something else to say, I'll edit the post (again) when I remember it. :p

Lol. You will find that is not nearly the only thing missing from the manual. Nice screen name by the way.

@sealman: I thought it got brighter/whiter as pollution increased?

very clever, boys. i could never work out what it was.

cheers

I always knew it was for pollution. I even figured out how many polluted tiles you need in Civ2 to trigger global warming.

Wasn't it 10 tiles?

i woiuld guess that you guys never played the original Civilization, my memory is now hazy but wasn't that yellow circle more obvious and indicate more danger in the original, anyway that's why i knew about it in civ 3
