Whats your favorite unit in the whole game

UU's: Legion. Not because their nessecary best, but I think they're coolest :)

Regular U's: Hard one. Battleships or marines. Battleships because of the cool sound it makes when moving, and marines because of the sounds and moves :) And I also like Pikemen, but they're not around for so long..

Thanks for replying everyone, i didnt think id get this many posts to my thread so fast. :goodjob: :)[plasma]

workers.

They provide my rail network and fortess that allow me to maintain a smaller defensive force.

They provide my commerce.

They are perhaps the human player's greatest advantage.

Hoplites, baby! Medieval defense in the ancient era without the need for iron spells doom for any invading infidels crossing into my sacred lands!!!:nono:

I'll have to go with the Samurai. You can get them early and they are useful for a large portion of the game. And eventually they upgrade to cavalry.

These are my favorite units:

1)Cavalry - Dominates everything in the middle age
2)Modern Armor - Brute force and lots of movement
3)Artillery - Nothing like pounding a target with multiple artillery
4)Swordsman - Best unit of the ancient age IMO
5)Samurai - Has the best attack animation

Excluding Workers and Settlers, the best non-UU unit is the Cavalry. It's dominant for longer than any other unit.

UUs included, I like Sipahi. Riders and Ansars are also close contenders.

If there appears to be any kind of pattern in my preferences, I'm sure it's just coincidense. :)

UU: The hopolite, as it's defense is unstoppable in ancient age, (even by the persians if you have horsemen to back them up)

Other units: The submarine, Combined with carriers it can out fight most Ai navies as they never build units that can see it.
Thus it cannot be bombarded before battle, which is integrel to civ 3 sea battles.

For regular units, I like Cavalry, just look to your left, and my name and avatar, plus look down at my quote!!!

For UU's I love the Sipahi, 8 attack and 3 movement can't be beat. Usually when I'm ready to go on a huge conquering blitz, I have just got sipahi, upgraded my knights to sipahi. Let the conquering begin!

I dig Gallic Swordsman, personally. They're shields make them a little too expensive, and their price needs ot be dropped, but in the Ancient Age they can haul ass and conquer an enemy quickly, hopping from city to city, with spearmen defenders following in their wake.

If faced with a larger army, they can maneuver around it and can pick off straggler units.

And of course, they give the Celts a Golden Age in the perfect time IMO. :D

Samauri! I love to watch them take out weakened units like skilled assassins. Especially Elite samauri vs. weakened or conscript riflemen.

It would have to be Cavalry for me, but I am partial to naval warfare so I like the Destoyer and Battleship too.

For me Cavalry - get them first and bang- bye bye neighbours!

I've gotta go with Modern Armor. Once I get MA I usually go around evening the score with all of the Civs that threatened me or invaded me earlier in the game :)

I like the Numidian Mercenary, good attack and defense for the Ancient Age... much needed on Emperor level

Cavalry gets my vote every time. When the going gets tough the weak make cavalry. Boom!

Only counting military units and not UUs here is my list.

1) The Knight. The first unit to be the fastest and the most powerful.
2) The Cavalry. Follows in the Knights foosteps, the first 3-move unit, great for blitzing.
3) Artillery. Great in stacks, good to break that stalemate in the early Industiral.

UUs included:

1) The Rider. The earliest 3-move unit, most powerful in its age, it just dominates.
2) The Siphai. Like a Cavalry, but...better!
3) The Legion. In AM6 it has proven to be an amazing unit, it is practically unstoppable until Pikes and MedInf come along.

Everything included:

1) Settlers. I like to build stuff.
2) Workers. I like to improve stuff.
3) The Rider. The Knight, but better.
