When did you start playing Civ?

I'm another one of those who've been playing Civ since the very first day. I can still remember getting all excited reading about the soon-to-be-released Civ1 and knew right away this was the game for me... was that in 1991? Whenever... so I was 30 at the time and already a veteran of years of strategy computer games.. anyone remember Empire?
Played Civ1,Civ2,Test of Time, CTP, SMAC, Civ3 and nowadays exclusively Conquests, mostly modded, since the epic game does get a bit boring by now...
