Does anybody know when the score is calculated? What I mean is if I'm trying to squeeze every last point while the population is still growing, do I need to make sure that the new citizens will be happy as they are "born" or is it enough to make sure they're 100% happy before pressing Enter?

I believe it is when they are born, since a citizen born, will "work" the same turn, before you even touch it.

However, perhaps when there is no governor, the grace period also applies somehow ?! need to check this out.

Based on my observations in "Live" HOF Milk Runs, the score for happiness points is calculated at the point you press "enter" at the end of a turn! (viz. BEFORE End-Of-Turn citizens are "born" or made content/happy/unhappy/specialists.) :)

Conversely, I would guess that points for Land/Coast would be calculated at the END of all other EOT calculations.....since it has to check on the Domination Limit at THAT time.....BUT this is purely speculative on my part! :)

Kuningas said in a recent SGOTM (was it #2?) that when discovering a new tech, you can switch to all happiness and you get greater score for that turn. You can later switch to science in that turn and still get same science output.

For HOF/GOTM games, keep this "RED LETTER" (viz. BANNED) Rule in mind:

"Changing Laborers pre-Production Phase - Breaking into the build sequence and changing Laborers from high commerce tiles to high production tiles by navigating through the city arrows or F1. Changing the Laborers in a city which has already completed it's production phase is allowable though. (Civ/PtW/C3C)" :)

Obviously for NON-HOF/GOTM games you can do whatever you want!
