When is civ3 going to be free to download

The titles says it all

I bort civ3 when it 1st came out but i managed to lose the disc
Now that i have a new computer civ3 conquests won't work because it needs civ3

I tryed to download all of the 'free civ downloads' but they are all riddled with spyware or simply don't work.

I bought a copy of CivIII complete for a fiver from direct2drive - an absolute bargain.

I just bought Civ3 Complete a few days ago off Impulse for $4.99. Probably not as good as having the disk, but it does play my old Conquest mods and it will do for now.

I find the Civ3 Complete set at Best Buy on a periodic basis, and have several back-up copies. As long as people like me are willing to pay for the game, it is not going to be free. I view it as the best of the Civilization series.

C3C used to be a free gift on CD in several PC magazines some time ago. I think I had at least 3 copies that I gave away to my friends to have more players for my mod. It worked.

I just thought with it being around 8 years since the game was realised there might be a free version out there (atleast civ3 no expansions)
