when to switch up from despotism and to what? (kinda long)

You said you didnt like it, but why. Monarchy is for war and conquest, when i mean war i mean unstoping until you have conquier all your continent. You never be able to do that under republic ( war weariness, no military police ).
You can do that just as good in Republic as in Monarchy. I often do it during Democracies too.

You just have to avoid things like razing cities, and staying with too many units for too long within enemy territory, etc. (You can capture an entire Continent without staying within enemy territory for even a single turn, IF you have fast units, and take each city in 1 turn.)

And if you get some war weariness after a while, you can increase entertainment for a while.

It's possible Praetorian. I just fought an aggressive war with a democracy, it's not that much of a matter.

Just try to not do the War Weariness causing things to much.

a past few wars ive been in were pretty nasty and i got really aggressive and i was in democracy the each time and never had war weariness. i used fast moving units and took a city or two on each turn therefore always leaving my forces in my own territory (newly acquired of course!). ive wiped out whole civs this way.

I tried once with Republic and the  Indians:eek: kick my butt, ROYALLY. The war weariness was uncontrolable

If you are loosing the war (ie, they are taking your cities), you will get war weariness.
Leaving units in enemy territory will cause war weariness.

There are more factors involved, but you can fight an offensive war with Rep and Demo, if you are winning or just defending and you try not to do the War Weariness causing stuff to much.

Actually the war was rather quiet, I had the upper hand yet things were simply dragging on. I was waiting for Gandi to give in to my terms

If you dont want waring then keep a small soldier force as a deterant and switch republic.

Managing when to wage war, units cost and governement are essential to succeed.

War weariness is a joke under republic and easily taken care of. Monarchy is virtually useless and communism is completly useless. You can support much more units with the trade bonus of republic then using the unit support of monarchy. Monarchy is sometimes useful if I'm having trouble with getting luxery resources. How I do it--Despotism->Republic->Maybe Democracy, unless I'm a religous civ then I switch to republic whenever I want to war and stay in democracy during peacetime.

But why am i able to conquiere my continent well before 1000 ad and reach modern era by 1700-1800 with 30 city, and then conquiere the world as a commi. against 6 civilisation. So i guess my way of playing is pretty good isnt it ?.

Despotism, monarchy, democraty, communism = conquest

But there is lots of other way like you said, but for sure mine doesnt suck.

civIIenthuiast,

you need to be playing on a higher level or two judging by the fact that you have the tech advantage starting in ancient times, and maintainging it forever. Plus all those wonders that you get.
