The exception to this is if your opponent manages to take someone else's capital before his ship arrives. That will count in a Space Race victory.
well if ther capital city is ceptured, wont thay get a new capital city?
If you capture the enemy capital it stops their spaceship reaching Alpha Cent.
I don't know if it stops the other victories, I think you have to capture all their cities to stop them building the UN or the World Bank.
That's an odd design decision. In real-world terms, why would losing your capital prevent a ship that's already launched form reaching a destination that's light years away?
I guess they had to design a way to stop an opponent from winning once the ship is away and expecting you to capture all their cities before the end of the flight was asking for too much. Still seems counter-intuitive...
it's been that way in all civ's that you had to wait for the ship to get to alpha centauri.

wait, y dose ceptureing the capital city keep thear ship from reaching alpha centari? is that whear the lunch bad is located? once u complet the ship do u instantly win space race, or do u have to lunch it?
